Drill

Interesting. Don't think this was noticed/discussed.

Yes

that's an interesting catch but if Licorice Pizza is 73 the time frame doesn't add up.

Unless PTA is not being explicitly literal

I knew that would be Drill that caught that!    I think he might be onto something.

Might be fudging the date, as suggested...  If I was Paul, I think I'd fudge that too.  We'll recall that Paul's Dad was the booth announcer for Carol.     Solid, Drill!

[edit]  We've seen CBS cameras in that bunkbed scene.  I wonder if Goetzman ever came near the Burnett Show (or maybe Lucy had a special)?

[2nd edit]  I just read the extensive caption in that post.   I'm convinced.

Yes

Footage of the Ed Sullivan performance is not available on Youtube or archive. Seemingly lost to the ether online

The plot of the film "Yours, Mine and Ours" (1968) concerns the combining of two families, his has 10 kids hers has 8.  I counted 18 kids in the wide shot.

I wish I could figure out what the kids were chanting.  It sounds like, "Bow! Bow! Bow! Bow!"

Yes

Well, here is the full soundtrack. The Ed Sullivan performance was the film's title tune

I listened to the opening track already, thought they might be saying "Ours! Ours! Ours!", but it doesn't fit what I'm hearing in the trailer...

I don't think it'll be literal. It won't technically be Yours, Mine and Ours but it'll be that. Kind of like The Cause is not Scientology but it is. So PTA basically created a new film and song

I could see him going that route, yeah.  I'm just thinking about Jon, Joel, Sue (?) being 'real'--and therefore this might be too.

I've been speculating that Bradley will never be flat-out mentioned or even credited as "Jon Peters".

Joel Wachs might be only real life person actually namedropped which is interesting

I was just thinking about the rights to portray people.  Jon is still alive, Goetzman is still alive.   Does "fair-use" (ie, satire) cover situations like this?  When do you have to pay to use name-and-likeness?

That is probably another thing, too, yeah.

We're overlooking the fact that Ebersole is NOT a red head in the clip.  That would support the 'inspired by', not literal.

To be fair, Lucille Ball isn't a redhead in her Ed Sullivan appearance, either, but went with a classic grey look to match her skin, clothes, and set.
