Nada Surf- Lucky

listened to See These Bones, Are You Lightning?, Ice On The Wing upwards of 40 times in the past few days.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

what.cd. i've seen it on soulseek too.

it's a 320kbps promo edition. the catch is that each track fades out during the last five seconds but i couldn't wait any longer so i went ahead and downloaded it.

The Perineum Falcon

We often went to the cinema, the screen would light up and we would tremble, but also, increasingly often, Madeleine and I were disappointed. The images had dated, they jittered, and Marilyn Monroe had gotten terribly old. We were sad, this wasn't the film we had dreamed of, this wasn't the total film that we all carried around inside us, this film that we would have wanted to make, or, more secretly, no doubt, that we would have wanted to live.

Róisín Murphy - Overpowered
i wasn't too crazy about this album. the majority of the tracks bored me and even the ones that didn't (Dear Miami) have little replay value. oh well, at least it's not as bad as KATE NASH.

inspired by the D B and the B, NP:

i realize i'm like really late to the Wolf Parade but i think they might be almost my favorite band right now.  so side projects a plenty...

Handsome Furs- Plague Park

first track What We Had on endless repeat.  i'm probably on 50 listens of that song this weekend.

have a listen:

handsome furs is pretty good, but sunset rubdown is the best thing ever! better than wolf parade even. really, spencer krug is one of my favorite guys working right now.

no way!  i've been listening to this Handsome Furs album like crazy and while i like a few Sunset Rubdown songs i'm still not way into them.  i think if Wolf Parade split the awesome would be going with this guy instead.

destroyer - trouble in dreams

i haven't got into it yet, but i'm sure i will. i think my favorite artist working today.

tpfkabi

he and wolf parade dudes make up Swan Lake, right - and he's in New Pornographers?
it's hard keeping up with all of these.
are all the Wolf Parade/New P's/Destroyer/etc related bands/side projects pretty good?
I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away.

destroyer is dan bejar, who is in swan lake with spencer krug of wolf parade and sunset rubdown, and carey mercer from frog eyes. bejar also writes a few songs for each new pornographers album, and they're usually the best ones. destroyer is pretty incredible, your blues is one of my favorite albums ever. rubies, his last, was his weakest, but it was still one of the best of 2006. for a beginner though, i'd recommend streethawk: a seduction.

both wolf parade side projects - handsome furs and sunset rubdown - are worth checking out. sunset rubdown has pretty much become krug's main thing, while wolf parade is his side project. when i talked to krug in the fall he said they had recorded the wolf parade cd and could put it out, but they are going to wait until spring cos thats when they all have time to tour behind it. dude's prolific.
