8 tracks from the new Weezer. I don't even know what to say about this except...freaking genius. Rivers and his 'stache are American heroes in my opinion. I also want "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" on Rock Band right this instant.

to put this in perspective - tell me how you judge the prior Weezer output.

i think MGMT was in this thread earlier - i think i'll pick it up this week at Best B for $7.99.

I have not really enjoyed a Weezer LP since 2000's The Green Album. I would put their debut at the top of my list, followed quite closely by Pinkerton. This new stuff is lyrically simple, almost childishly so, and very infectectious which are is what I think Weezer does best. Rick Rubin's hands are all over this thing and I'm also a sucker for Rivers' rapping. Perhaps my love for this will fade but right now the weather is sunny and I listened to this on my way to work with the sunroof open and it was the perfect music for the day. MGMT is also perfect summer music but I think this may be THE summer album for me this year.

It doesn't exist. Mod is just pulling a fast one on us because he got fired from his graphic design job and now he has too much free time on his hands.

Nice try, mod.

thats a little bit ironic because last week like 20 people got laid off from my graphic design job, but i was one of the lucky ones (and was not).  i ordered that from matador a month or two ago after i read about it on pitchfork and decided to buy it so i could see the doc, but the ep was a pretty good incentive too.  12 songs, b-sides, demos, a few live things.  this is the first cd i've bought since In Rainbows.  crazy.  it's kinda neat to have a physical thing.

Yup. I've gone back to buying CD's too. If you buy used, they're not that expensive. I never spend more than $5 a CD.

Not bad. Kind of a lesser version of a Amy Winehouse and Sia blend.
