I'm saving the little "director approved" sticker from Marriage 'cos Ingmar Bergman drew a little man (or a little devil?) in his signature. :)
""Money doesn't come into it. It never has. I do what I do because it's all that I am." - Morrissey

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

The cover alone makes me want to see Onibaba.  But I've never heard of it.  What's the deal with it?

never seen it either but according to Harry at AICN it's "One of the greatest horror films of all time. Made in 1964 and has influenced everyone from William Friedkin on THE EXORCIST to Guillermo Del Toro and a ton of horror filmmakers in-between. This is truly one of the great horror films left undiscovered by around 95% of Horror fans. Criterion coming out with this DVD is providing us with the best transfer available on the face of the planet and a DVD box that I want a one-sheet of, it's so nice. A sincerely brilliant work of suspense, terror, madness and horror!"        thats enough to get me to see it, but you dont like horror movies so i doubt that helps much.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

hey thats from the whole 5.00 boxset debacle?  youll have to let us know how the transfer etc. is on that bastard.  like cinephile mentioned kino seemed to have put out the 'definitive' editions of some of these, so i wonder what the deal is on this one?

..i found it fine to me....its nothing glorious like a criterion or lynch's  flawless restoration of eraserhead..but its well worth the $5  for me...i say go for it if you want to save some cash....but i haven't seen other transfers though so i couldn't give you a comparative example...

but my version  comes w/a collectable poster... :-D .

EDIT:..no extras ..but a snazzy menue screen.

Those are the only two I've seen, I think... so I'm no expect. Of those two, I'd say Flowers of Shanghai.

His name is pronounced "Who Show Seen." In case anyone was wondering... I had to be told that.

The NW Film Center in Portland had a retrospective of his work, which is where I first heard of him, a few years back.

P.S.  I had no idea about the box set...  :(
