The logo indeed looks cheap, like a worst version of IV typography. I am at the same time excited and a bit confused. With the title, which may be the worst PTA title by a long run. Also, the posts on reddit kind of make sense but he didn't reveal anything that has not been mentioned here before, including the title, mentioned Penn only when asked if he is in it. While it may be interesting to hear such a powerful and popular song in PTA's trailer, he could just make that up. Part of me wants it to be true and to see the trailer here and now. But a part is suspicious and doubts PTA would call his movie like that. Beining a non-native speaker of English who has never been to California it is as strange and nondescript as it can be.

Pulp Fiction logo also looks cheap and B-Movie-ish, but I guess there will be always people that complain about everything.

The trailer will drop, movie will come out, and we'll all feel good about the title in due time, don't worry about it.

Yes

I prefer Soggy Bottom but considering the hangout nature of film, basing the title as I assume off a major location makes sense. The logo is fine.

Not if I manage to destroy the universe in the meantime!

They might look cheap now but that's pretty much how every logo looks on the official social media accounts before official marketing, just simple fonts and gaudy colors and all. They'd probably change it to something better once the official stuff's released.

For this Valley Boomer the title comes with a little personal baggage--and hence my disappointment.

I never bought any of my vinyl there.  In my world, there were other "cooler" places to get'cher wax.  For me, it was Aron's on Melrose.   Licorice always felt kinda "corporate-y".  My first girlfriend managed an "LP" (get it?) back in the day.

As a title for a film for an audience that has none of those memories or familiarity?   Sure, fine.  Evokes a time and place...

But, mark my words, children, SOGGY BOTTOM would have made sense as a title.  (You'll see.)

This isn't a font. It was hand lettered.

New Beverly this Sat Nite at midnight it is, then.  It's Sold-Out, so bring the battering ram.  I'll bring snax.

MGM gave PTA $40 million dollars and he gave them a film called Licorice Pizza that he's promoting in front of screenings of the Beavis & Butthead movie. What a legend.
