As someone who grew up in the Valley and remembers these stores quite well, this title seems objectively problematic. It's roughly equivalent to calling it "Owl Drugs" or "Sears & Roebuck" or "A&W Root Beer" or "Rathbuns" (all retail outlets that are no longer).

Didn't he confirm that Phantom Thread was just a working title like we all assumed, but he couldn't come up with a better title and just kept it? What if that happened again lol

Latest word is the title is definitely not Soggy Bottom, but hope dies last for those who wish it remains.

Soggy Bottom is a perfectly good/appropriate title (as I believe we'll see in retrospect). If that's not to be, then it's still the one to beat. ("Licorice Pizza" would NOT be it. "Bumpers" is growing on me (he said, modestly.))

Where are we getting these names? I haven't seen any mention of them in Google News or from doing a quick Twitter search.

"Pizza" was a rumored title reported on another forum. "Bumpers" is my own suggestion. There was a statement from someone with a history of credibility that it was "...100% NOT 'Soggy Bottom'". There are some other sarcastic suggestions from here ("The Hollywood Kids").

NONE of the titles we're tossing around here are official, of course.

They may have asked the audience to keep the title under wraps for a bit, but not everyone is likely to be as discrete as this guy. We'll probably have the title very, very soon.

I don't really know what to make of this, except that I rewatched American Graffity by the time the "Untitled High-School Project" was announced just to get into the "vintage pubertal Americana" mood, and it was still a great movie.

They said in another comment that Life on Mars is the song used in the trailer. I guess we'll find out soon whether they're telling the truth.
