okay looks really cool. but...

ONE: it gives away WAY too many of the dramatic arcs in the film.  peter quitting being spiderman, mary jane about to marry someone else, etc.

TWO: i hope it doesnt take a wrong turn in commiting a sin that almost all the fucking superhero movies like to screw up.  every fucking villian/girlfriend on earth cant find out the goddamn superheros identity!  it NEVER happens in the comics, and the goddamn screenwriters think they cant come up with anything dramatic enough if the villians/love interests dont find out.  isnt the hero dealing with these two things dramatic enough?

edit: i misintrepeted the preview and had to tone down my rant accordingly.  apologies to sam raimi and sony pictures.  this will rule, thanks.
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

So ah...what happened to the smaller, more intimate Spiderman sequel? That trailer was cool, although a little toot typically operatic for my tastes.

Banky

Once MJ and Peter got married in the comic, she was aware of who he really was.

They need to make a super Superhero movie of those comics where ALL the villains got together and kicked the shit out of Spidey, then he had to get a ton of heroes to help him.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

If that's the case they should just churn out a "Secret Wars" movie. Then they could have another Spider-Man movie after it with the Venom storyline.

Who's the perfect casting to play Venom?

Damn, they could get Carnage in there too, as long as they ballsed up and made an R movie.

I'm going to go out on a limb with my Venom/Eddie Brock choice: Val Kilmer. He's older, sure, but he could take the Brock character and really pull of the cocky, asshole rival of Parker with some intelligence. He could play it bitter, as the seasoned photographer that's getting shown up by the bright newcomer.

If they get around to Venom, I'm sure they'll cast him as the brainless, jock twentysomething type and either go with Vin Diesel or the type. Of course, there are the rumors of Jake Gyllenhaal which would be pretty great.

Jake?!

Jeez, I like him, but...

Val would be perfect, as long as he could bulk up a solid amount.
Good pick.

Sleuth

the comic fans will hate me, but I would LOVE for Harry Osbourne to become Venom rather than just being another Green Goblin (edit:) or introducing a new character

I just realised Michael Chabon helped out on the "screen story" for this. Which is very cool even if it is a third credit.
