This is probably a 2022 movie now right?

Or it will play in theatres briefly and then hit streaming/on demand?

It's hard to hold on
When there's no one to lean on
Don't let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to keep the faith

How is everyone else cutting their wrists? I was thinking box cutter.

Why would we assume this? Zero indication of this being the case. We still haven't heard anything from Nightmare Alley either. Tragedy of Macbeth and Don't Look Up still don't have real trailers out. And Phantom Thread, in a completely normal year, didn't even release the trailer til late October and still had plenty of success.

So why assume the worst? Plenty of movies are still being released theatrically this year, including the other MGM movies. I wish the trailer would come sooner too but it's not suspicious or out of the ordinary or anything to not have info yet.

There's been a trailer rated for Nightmare Alley, in fairness, so we know that film definitely exists  :yabbse-grin:

Alright, let's do it once more, hopefully for the last time.

Timespan between first trailer-theatrical release of the last two PTA late releases (not counting festival/preview screenings)

IV first trailer 9/29 – theatrical release 12/12    timespan: 74 days
Phantom Thread first trailer 10/23 – theatrical release 12/25    timespan: 63 days

"Soggy Bottom" theatrical release 11/26
74 days prior to 11/26 is 9/13
63 days prior to 11/26 is 9/24

So unless we get OFFICIAL updates in the meantime, please don't come up with any delay-scenarios for at least the next two weeks because it hurts my ears. Thank you in advance.

9/13, 9/20 or 9/27 seem like likely dates if we put much credence in the 63-74 day window. All mondays.

My guess is that he doesn't have enough good takes from Alana Haim and he's banging his head for hours on end trying to cut something together that works. But the shooting period is over and retakes are not a possibility. Also, the Haim score is meh and he's trying to make that work.

Wow, that's pretty mean of me to say. I was being sarcastic, just to be clear. My actual guess is that Alana Haim will be good, like the actors in Everybody Wants Some.

So in other words you're not a fan of Haim then.

I'm sure Paul had found enough in Alana Haim that made her the female lead he had wanted. I mean, look at her in the videos he filmed for Haim, how beautiful and full of life Alana is in them.

Drenk

She's definitely less stiff than the singer.

Yeah, I was just trying to make a dumb joke seeing as Alana hasn't been in a feature film before and Haim haven't done a score before (not that it's confirmed they're doing the soundtrack or contributing to it). It came off as critical of Haim. I'm just going a little stir-crazy ....

On the latest episode of The Big Picture podcast, Sean Fennessey mentions talking to people at Telluride who are "working on the PTA film" and while they still don't know what it's called, they do know it's coming soon.

To add my own bit of speculation before this runs completely wild, I would imagine these are people working on the awards campaign/release side as opposed to the film itself which is likely done by now and heading straight for it's previously announced release date.

Hoping this is the chill pill this thread needs at the moment.  :yabbse-smiley:
Christopher Nolan's directive was clear to everyone in the cast and crew: Use CGI only as a last resort.

Also it might go to AFI fest in November .
