That's a lot! It sounds romantic and sweet with gorgeous cinematography and aesthetics, can't wait to see it, can't wait to see little Hoffman and baby Haim in this.

Believe the hype. And put your faith in Alana Haim.
Its cinematography looks absolutely stunning. There's tension in this trailer that feels just like young love - out to prove itself thru trial by fire.

What do we think, realistically, are the chances of the trailer coming out online tomorrow?

Is there any reason they'd hold onto it longer and wait? It seems like this weekend has done a pretty great job of generating internet hype - about as good of a job as 35mm only screenings can possibly do.

ESPECIALLY if the trailer is as great as everyone who's seen it is saying, I see no reason to wait.

I second this motion.
And I'm going to watch.
It's been a really $&(@$ 18+ months for the U.S. and the world, and I need something wonderful and promising in a two-minute dosage.

Psyched.

Monday would be good. Therefore it won't be Monday.  :yabbse-grin:

I'm betting on Thursday or Friday.

Hate the fact that you're probably right.

Holding onto hope though!

Someone from the PCC posted saying it wouldn't come out for a while yet, although who knows when that means or if they're just saying it to get people to book tickets for their screenings. I wouldn't be surprised if they waited til after TIFF is done to release it though.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Not this coming week but next.

My background is in marketing (both in practice and in teaching it as a subject), but movie marketing is outside of my wheelhouse. Generally speaking, the end of the week is borderline forbidden for making any type of marketing announcements. However, House of Gucci's trailer launched not only on a Thursday, but on a Thursday night. How common are Thursdays/Fridays for dropping big trailers online? The trailers for the last two PTA features launched on Mondays, but they weren't with MGM. (Another thought: how much control has MGM ceded to PTA in the marketing? Because releasing the trailer initially at 35mm repertory showings seems to clearly be a PTA choice, not an MGM choice.)

You're probably right I just didn't wanna say it

I wonder if the weird pizza in Inherent Vice served as influence on the name (it's described in the book but not shown in the movie; it would've been the early scene when there's a slow zoom in to Doc and Sortilege drinking beer in the corner of a restaurant at a table with people, after Shasta's visit to the apartment). In the book, this place is a smokey pizza joint and someone at their table goes to the back and gets a pizza that has something like marshmallows and bubblegum on it.

I hope the trailer comes out sooner rather than later. I've learned to really practice patience during the slow-going covid period and keep myself occupied. So I'll try not to think about it too much over the coming days if it's not out.

In this case I really doubt it.  Paul would have grown up with Licorice Pizza stores around--and if he was into music, could have likely gotten his tunes from there.   I think it's a direct, nostalgic lift from his formative years.

Man, now I'm getting excited at the prospect of a digital trailer this week.  Monday would be good!

Oh, I didn't know it was an actual chain of stores! It was probably mentioned in the thread here or in an article or something, but I must've missed it at some point. Seems my knowledge of California culture isn't too good. :D
