it's funny, i guess no one here has ever been to southern illinois...please, keep it that way. and sorry but, trying to convince racists (or any idiot) that racism is ignorant is only # 3 on the old priority list while i'm at work. maybe next time with the life lessons...

1. get this fuck a movie and get them out(with playguard, and a discount rental card)
2. Clean
3. teach people about the harm of racism, and how to achieve "the good" in his or her life

we all know how badly people listen to what you have to say.

it's not the wrench, it's the plumber.

I would just ignore The Sherrif. He's just having some growing pains.

But no one is disputing the fact that racism is present, we're just calling shenanigans on the fact that it was presented in that way. It's like if you said you were standing in line at taco bell and witnessed somebody jerking off and then vomiting into the food. No you didn't. You may have witnessed someone scratching their butt while they wrapped a burrito with no gloves on, but you never witnessed something that hardly ever happens.

i didnt call you a liar. its just how do you expect that guy to respond? if hes ready to kill sam jackson from that movie for no reason, i doubt its because hes unaware his views are old fashioned. just recommend birth of a nation to him, or malcolm x

Some good stuff about 2001: A Space Odyssey -

Dr. Ifto: Actually, I do like good movies, but I do not like this directors style. I said in another thread, that I hate his movies. He is over hyped as some god to directing, but his movies sucked, well after the shining, they sucked.

To each his own. If someone can say ID4 sucked, and I liked it, then I can say 2001 sucked. Something about watching apes walking around for 20 minutes in the beginning of hte movie just doesnt scream "This is a good movie".

If you look at my collection, I have movies that a lot of others thought sucked, but I thought were genious, like Vanilla Sky, Donnie Darko, memento, and so on.

I haven't heard many negative comments from people about Donnie Darko or Memento, despite me disliking both of them. Vanilla Sky however gets bashed way more than it should.

That isn't stupid. He makes a good point. Taste matters for shit if you have nothing to say about what movies you like. As my signature says, ""What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence." He's saying if someone just says they love 2001 then he can say he likes ID4 without any evidence and be just as right.

A thread on this board about a movie everyone hates is likely to have more interesting reviews and insights than a thread about a movie about everyone loves. The latter, it seems to me, always features the vaguest reviews that are based on personal feelings instead of any critical objective.

In the end, personal feelings is why people go to movies, but they don't mean shit to another person in convincing them that your perspective is smarter than anyone elses.

Gamblour.

This isn't stupid, just ignorant. But man, annoying.

(on Videodrome, a local movie rental store with a good selection of cult movies)

Me: They have a lot of cult movies.
Girl: Cult? What do you mean?
Me: Like if you could think of something weird on DVD, they would probably have it.
Girl: Oh, like independent? Like from Sundance.
Me: .....yes.
WWPTAD?
