I know the new Jane's (not the Nothing Shocking pic) was posted so I won't take up another pix worth of b/w. Strays sounds like they just picked up right where they left off, way too many years ago. When combined, these guys are a powerful energy force not to be reckoned with.

and for so-trashy-it's-good:

""Money doesn't come into it. It never has. I do what I do because it's all that I am." - Morrissey

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

2 CD's I just bought:

Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn

Pink Floyd - Animals

both are excellent.

ALSO, Reign in Blood is one of my all-time favorite CD's
"Mein Führer, I can walk!" - Dr. Strangelove

You know, in addition to sounding like them, The Strokes even kind of look like them. It's pretty weird.

Belle and Sebastian - 3-6-9 Seconds of Light

Excellent choice. "Le Pastie de la Bourgeoisie" is probably my single favorite Belle and Sebastian tune- "readin' Judy Blume, but you came too soon," etc.- and "Put the Book Back on the Shelf" is great, too. There's also "hidden" track.

I once saw John Waters on a lecture tour, and Peaches was his "opening act." She and this other girl came out in bikinis, and she had this girl lip-sync the songs on the stage while she go-go danced through the audience. Very punk rock, very Warholian-performance/pop-culture art, which, if you think about it, is the exact perfect precursor to John Waters. I don't have Fatherfucker yet.
