Great fucking album!

Unfortunatly my cd has an actual HOLE warn through it (no, not the one in the middle)... I have no idea how that happened.

""Money doesn't come into it. It never has. I do what I do because it's all that I am." - Morrissey

"Lacan stressed more and more in his work the power and organizing principle of the symbolic, understood as the networks, social, cultural, and linguistic, into which a child is born. These precede the birth of a child, which is why Lacan can say that language is there from before the actual moment of birth. It is there in the social structures which are at play in the family and, of course, in the ideals, goals, and histories of the parents. This world of language can hardly be grasped by the newborn and yet it will act on the whole of the child's existence."

must have listened to it alot...this is my first real joy division listen.  ive heard them before, and thought they were just ok, but then listened to a lot of interpol, and i like them alot.   then i heard they're basically joy division in 2002, so i decided to (not so) blind buy this.  as usual, im not sure what to think yet.

Hell yes! That and Siamese Dream are fucking awesome. BTW, did anyone know that Billy plays mostly EVERYTHING except drums on both albums? Credits are not always truthful, as in this case. D'Arcy didn't do shit but sing the last song.

Corgan is a rock music and guitar's greatest of, IMO.

Agreed about Corgan!  But I though it was only on Siamese Dream where he and Jimmy did most everything.  My favorite is Mellon Collie, then Siamese, then Machina, Adore, and I actually haven't heard Gish :?

OK, publicly it is known that Siamese Dream was Billy, Chamberlain, Butch Vig, and James Iha with a small amount of input. For me to claim that I factually know that Gish was the same is my opinion. Iha is only co-credited on one song off of Gish, I Am One. Iha has three co-credits on Siamese Dream. Billy is SP and that's how it always was. Chamberlain gets involved in heroin and he's out after he'd been given several warnings. D'Arcy gets busted buying crack after she's tossed out.

Just wanted to clarify that you are correct as to public knowledge of the Siamese Dream recording but Gish's is IMO. He is always in control.

BTW, GET GISH! The whole album is killer but I don't care much for D'Arcy singing Daydream. And make sure all you Punkin heads get this video DVD!

MAJOR extras and commentary/viewing options on here! The Thirty Three video, as Billy explains, is made up purely of rapidly successive still photo shots....too cool!

From an amazon customer review:

In addition to the videos there is commentary about each video from the band and the directors. Also with the commentary are outtakes and unreleased footage. So basically there are two versions of each song (MTV version and unreleased footage version) and they can be played with just the music or with the music in the background and commentary on the videos. I Am One is a previously unreleased video of some live performances with the studio album music playing. The two live tracks are awsome!!
The short film is pretty cool...its a full length version of the story told in the Try, Try, Try by Jonas Akerlund. Kind of disturbing...very cool.

"The Climb" is an excellent, excellent song.  And the most of the album's almost as good.

Close... Billy and Jimmy are the Smashing Pumpkins... listen to Adore then listen to any other SP album, and you'll know what I mean... Jimmy Chamberlin is the best drummer alive today... hands down.

I can't wait for the Billy Corgan "solo project"... like Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan already weren't his own solo projects...

It's cool that there are so many Pumpkins fans on the board!  SP is my favorite band after Depeche Mode... I have 3 friends that are Pumpkins nuts... they've taped shows, bought all of the CDs and LPs (imports and domestics), traded taped shows, seen every concert in California, and know everything there is to know about the band... has any Pumpkins fan heard the really early stuff by The Marked?  If you think Billy Corgan has had that whiney voice all along, listen to the Marked... he sounds like Kurt Cobain when he used to lower his voice.
