I just thought I would let you know that I found out at Cannes that one of Quentin Tarintino's next projects will be Killshot, the Elmore Leonard novel. He said he is not directing it but is writing it and is going to act in it alongside David Carradine. My guess is that someone like Rodriguez will direct it. This was confirmed by Quentin, Lawrence Bender and David Carradine. I also got confirmed by Bender that they have given up the rights to Freaky Deaky and Bandits, two other Leonard projects they acquired with Killshot and Rum Punch(Jackie Brown) back in '95.

kill shot was one of my favorite elmore leonard novels, but they should give it to a less flashy director, 'cause a lot of the book is just dead quiet tension.  especially that ending.  so good.

I heard that KILL SHOT has the same characters that were in RUM PUNCH AKA JACKIE BROWN. If it does have the same characters, Does that mean they are going to use the some of the same actors that played those characters in JACKIE BROWN to be in KILL SHOT?

Yes. Ray was in Both Jackie Brown and Out of Sight the Books and movies...but I heard that KILL SHOT was published before RUM PUNCH. Could KILL SHOT be a Possible Prequel

the main characters in kill shot were a middle-aged couple, an iron worker and his wife.  the bad guys was a neurotic little dude who just got out of the jail and an indian dude who doesn't speak much, and they both crash at this ex-prison cafeteria worker's house, this 50 year old lady who believes Elvis is alive and collects stuffed animals.  None of them sounded too familiar to Jackie Brown.

You're thinking of "The Switch". That book was published before "Rum Punch" and featured Melony, Lewis, and Ordell. It's the one Tarantino stole from a drug store when he was a teenager according to the liner notes of the "Jakie Brown" DVD.

Miramax Films regular John Madden is reteaming with the mini-major to direct the company's long-gestating Elmore Leonard adaptation, "Killshot." Based on a script by Hossein Amini, the thriller follows an innocent couple pursued by two violent killers -- a hit man and a sociopath -- after they stumble across an extortion scheme. "Killshot" has been in development for some time -- at one point, Tony Scott was attached to direct, and Robert De Niro and Quentin Tarantino were reported as possibilities to star in the project.

the novel was pretty awesome and quirky.  I remember liking it when I was learning English in high school.

I remember really liking this book too.  I read it in a blur of Leonard though... for whatever reason, while I was a projectionist, I went through like ten of his books in a row.
