Ghostboy

I saw it back in March, and it's still one of the best films I've seen all year.

Sal

Haha man this could go either way. To be honest Im a little frightened..

It's a good. The interaction between the two guys is very real and intriguing. Plus Will Oldham is splendid.

saw this yesterday.

oldham was perfect, the perfect balance of hilarious and sincere moments.  he needs to get more acting roles like this and stop putting out medicore albums.

anyway, maybe the best american movie i've seen so far this year. i'm sure i'm forgetting something though. has anybody seen her first feature river of grass? is it worth checking out? has anybody even heard of this girl?

godardian will like this. especially since it's set in his neck of the woods

mediocre!? how can you call ease down the road, superwolf, or the letting go mediocre??

ok ok, i'll let it slide, music is subjective, but you're on notice buddy!

seriously tho, have you ever seen the hee-hawesque Horse Apples? Will is on that show as well.

Old Joy is playing in Nashville on the 4 th of Nov. I'll be taking a road trip to see it.

summer in the southeast is boring, the letting go is boring, the album with tortoise is boring. those are the last three things he put out, and they are all boring.

and just because he was on an episode of Wonder Showzen, that makes his albums not medicore?

i'm putting YOU on notice

analogzombie

ince again,Boring? should he add in some crazed beats or something? It's alla bout the lyrics and mood. Will oldham is an amazing writer, period. c'mon man, have you heard his cover of Thunder Road? how the hell is that boring??

Finally saw this. It is an excellent little film.

The filmmaking in the first half is exceptional. The film finds a great balance between a slim story and the use of atmosphere to promote themes. There is little to know about the characters during the beginning of the road trip, but the camera shots from the car mixed with the music perfectly draw the viewer into the themes and emotions that will come later on.

The main idea seems to be about the distance in friendships and the memory of better times. Kurt shows moments of frustation that his friendship with Mark is binding because of Mark's impending duties with fatherhood. The trip is a return to basics for them. It is to draw up the memories they once had. The soothing shots of the countryside and music seem to draw up the feelings of their past that the story can't fit into the focus of the film. It makes this small story believable for everything it wants to emphasize.

I'm starting to realize 2006 wasn't such a bad year for films.

I started doing netflix...I caved or succumbed or however you want to say it.

Anyway, this was the first one on my 'q' and its such a gem of a little film with plenty too revsit. The music and the atmosphere of the whole movie seemed calm yet magical. I was very impressed with the serenity and human-ness of the characters...It felt almost underplayed, but in a good way.

GT is right again, this piece of celloid washes over you like rain and shows you how powerful film can be without overdoing it.
