I saw it on DVD a few months ago. I really want to see it on the big screen because, while I think I loved it, I know I missed quite a bit - especially in the middle story, which nonetheless, I think, is my favorite of the three.

anyway i think this is the best film of the year so far and will be at the end of it all.  i'm as enthusiastic and in love with it now was i was with The New World when it came out.  sort of.

gonna see it on the big screen in four hours, but no one wants to go with me!

edit:
came back from it.  found two people to go with me.  they were both more lukewarm about it than I was.  I was pretty satisfied, but it felt like Hou Hsiao-Hsien lite, especially the third act of the film.  it seemed like it could've gone deeper, even the cinematography was less contrasty.  I really really loved Shi Qi's performance, but I felt like it could've been even slower and longer in each sequence.  the film got a little sloppy in its poignance.
