just saw both of the films...anyone else seen them....im curious to hear opininos on both films.....wet hot american summer...i misunderstood...as i thought iwas gonna have a boogie nights vibe to it..i guess the title just kinda alludes to that...but i havent seen the camp movies it spoofs so i didnt get some of the shit....man bites dog was very well made...(spoiler) it pretty much seemed like blair witch was a huge american made rip off (even the ending) of mbd.   it had me going.....

WHAS is pretty damn good, but the spoof parts weren't specific, just general camp movies like Meatballs and such.

I love the deleted scenes on the dvd. My favorites were the animal house spoof and the bit with the hot house corn.

I just saw Wet Hot American Summer the other day, actually. I think its a pretty awful movie, but I laughed enough to think it was worthwhile. I also haven't seen the camp movies it spoofs, so some things might have been lost on me. I also bet it's really funny if you're inebriated.

Man Bites Dog is awesome, although I was a little disappointed the second time I saw it because it lost so much of its initial punch. Its hard to follow up a film like that, just like its been really hard for the Blair Witch Guys. Its not the kinda thing that you can do twice.

WHAS is #47 on my top 100 movies list. It's just that funny.
I've never seen ANY camp movies and that wasn't a problem at all.
I don't even think there were any specific spoofs. If the Molly Shannon section wasn't in there and if I didnt hate Janeane Garofalo so much it would be even better. Perhaps the funniest ever.

Man Bites Dog (dude, why are these in the same thread?) I was disapointed with, but it was still pretty decent.  

It just shows you how you can get away with a ripoff like Blair Witch Project did.
