Of all the average movie watchers I know. I've never heard one movie mentioned more than  Hitchcocks 'The Birds' when the topic of 'old movies' comes up. Psycho isn't scary, Evil Dead is too campy, but The Birds always catches praise. As if it crosses the boundary between Movies Old and New. It got me thinking, what other movies do average people dig? They love movies but are certainly close minded and have an acquired taste. Bear in mind that almost none would ever consider the value of Direction, Cinematography, Sound, or Acting. ( Acting can be an exception in very emotional/heartfelt scenes). Nevertheless these people see movies as a different kind of magic, not necessarily man made but crafted by someone closer to God's power. Whereas we, the Film Buffs, never cease to appreciate the Human skill that it takes to make a 'Good Movie'.

I think average movie watchers seldome have all-time favourites...their favourite films-list  always consists of recent releases.

I Heart Huck* opened here last friday. It's my friend's all-time favourite film now.
Same when Pirates of the Car* opened.

No exact matches, but pseudo-redirection will commence in three, two, one...

Movies You Love to Watch All the Time
Movies you are ashamed you HAVE seen
movies assholes dig / movies bitches dig
When your friends talk about movies...

Side note, this reminds me of Chris Rock interviewing people in multiplexes as part of his Oscar schtick.  Depressing.

ROCK: Favorite movie of the year?
MAN: Chronicles of Riddick.
ROCK: Second favorite?
MAN: Don't have one.

Falling in love is the greatest joy in life. Followed closely by sneaking into a gated community late at night and firing a gun into the air.

Hey, at least it's a pseudo re-direction.
