Rock, Madison head for Hills with 'Gilmores'

After their collaboration on "The Longest Yard," Adam Sandler is reteaming with Chris Rock.

Sandler's shingle, Happy Madison, has picked up "The Gilmores of Beverly Hills," a comedy Rock co-wrote and is attached to star in. Sandler will produce with Happy Madison's Jack Giarraputo.

Sources say that "Gilmores" will be set up at Paramount as a negative pickup, though studio reps could not be reached for comment. Happy Madison has a nonexclusive deal with Revolution and Columbia.

The story centers on the misadventures of a lower-income black family living in Beverly Hills.

Rock co-wrote the script with longtime collaborator Ali LeRoi. LeRoi worked on "The Chris Rock Show," was a writer on the Rock starrer "Down to Earth" and contributed material to Rock's turn as host of the 77th Annual Academy Awards. The two also wrote "Head of State," which Rock directed and starred in.

There is no director attached to "Gilmores," but the studio hopes to shoot in the fall.

I can.
"As a matter of fact I only work with the feeling of something magical, something seemingly significant. And to keep it magical I don't want to know the story involved, I just want the hypnotic effect of it somehow seeming significant without knowing why." - Len Lye
