The Rules of Attraction is a good movie

The Rules of Attraction is fun to watch and has some brilliant sequences, but as a movie it seems half-finished. It needs to be longer.

Maybe someday he'll be able to release Glitterati !

I ache for somebody to adapt Glamorama.  One of a handful of novels that I feel must be filmed.

Rules of Attraction is by far the best realized adaptation of any of BEE's books. American Psycho is a fun sort of "Greatest Hits" version of the book, and Bale's performance perfectly captures that character, but the film ultimately comes up short for me. Less Than Zero is bad, as is The Informers. I second the Glamorama hope, and pray that some kind, able-bodied (and moneyed) soul will come along and zap The Golden Suicides back to life.

What are the others?

i think you could pull off Glamorama with like a handful of real actors and a waterfall of holograms. i'd watch it. sometimes france is better at combining the practical with the artistic

Ooo, possible thread idea... Could be interesting to read what novels others have in their heads as filmz.

Reel

Since Roger Avary has been making the rounds as a new podcast host, I've caught up on a bunch of his interviews and learned some interesting things about Pulp Fiction:

- Reservoir Dogs was originally written to be one of the 3 segments in Pulp Fiction. In early drafts of Pulp Fiction, the briefcase contained the diamonds from the Reservoir Dogs heist. When asked what's in the briefcase in the final version, Avary said that it's whatever the person looking inside wants it to be. Roger himself thought the glowing light was too suggestive of what could be in there.

- The scene in "The Bonnie Situation" where the guy bursts in shooting and misses Jules and Vincent 6 times was an idea Roger initially came up with for True Romance. It would've happened in the scene where Clarence goes to Drexl's club and robs him.

- The "I just shot Marvin in the face" part of "The Bonnie Situation" was also an idea Roger came up with to be in True Romance.

- "The Gold Watch" was written by Roger as a feature film called "Pandemonium Reigns", but when Tri-Star hired them to write Pulp Fiction they basically compiled everything they'd ever written together to come up with the final draft.

Yet he only gets credit for writing one story, not even the screenplay! Those are all the best parts of the movie! I can't help but think that has something to do with them not working together again for 30 years...on a podcast
