I guess it's called "The Bird" in FULL METAL JACKET

Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen

From the same film I like the intro Hello Vietnam by Johnny Wright

Mac Guffin and Fernando, thanks...

I only listed pop rock songs but  Kubrick's use of classical music, we all know, changed cinema forever...

I love also the way Oliver Stone's uses Night on Bald Mounatin on Natural Born Killers...

There's a song in BULLETS OVER BROADWAY that woody uses every time cheech goes to the river to kill someone, it's a very funny way to use that song.

If we're including scores, Elfman's work for the first Batman kicks ass.

a lot of times a soundtrack is more than just our songs that we listened to in high school. some new scores and songs i thought up of

howard shore with lord of the rings (new trilogy)
elliot goldenthal with frida

as for songs
"jesse's girl" by rick springfield (just brilliant in boogie nights, i'm really surprised no one has said that one)
"I want to confess as best I can, but my heart is void. The void is a mirror. I see my face and feel loathing and horror. My indifference to men has shut me out. I live now in a world of ghosts, a prisoner in my dreams. " -Antonius Block from The Seventh Seal

The edit button is your friend.  Don't be another mutinyco.  Just say no.

All the best songs have already been named, really.  I mentioned Mad World months ago.  Everyone seems to say stuff from PTA's and Tarantino's work.  And I haven't seen any film in a long time where the soundtrack is anything decent.  The fall can't come soon enough.
