NEON MERCURY

I was checking the archives and did not see this asked before.

5)  Se7en-it's damn cool and creepy...great setup for the film

4)  Jackie Brown-neat 70's vibe with Pam  stroll'n across 100 and tenth street
also my personal fav film by Mr. T.

3)  Memento-it speaks for itself

2)  Full Frontal-I have never seen something like that before...props for
                      originality

1)  Requiem for a Dream- it  is the encompassment of what (imo) a title
sequence should be...cool titles and  great music
                                       that is all I  need

An excellent thread!

I wanna be more broad and go for 'best openings'

I like:

Natural Born Killers
A Clockwork Orange
Requiem For A Dream
The Thin Red Line
The Doors

Recce

Raging Bull. Oh man, that was great.

Let's stick to title sequences for this thread:

1.) Seven (gets you in the mind of the John Doe long before he even shows)
2.) Psycho (great score to accompany the parallel bars that suggest duality)
3.) West Side Story (the end credits; so simple - graffitti on street signs - yet so effective)
4.) Casino (beautiful neon imagery)
5.) Clockers (it's use of crime scene photos is so powerful)

4 - La Femme Nikita - love the Luc Besson intros
5 - Enter the Dragon - just love the Lalo Schrifin music and Jim walking badass

You know what, am I crazy to say that Jarmusch's Down by Law has similar title sequences to The 400 Blows?

Born Under Punches

The slo-mo walk of the main characters of Reservoir Dogs going right to Mr. Orange shot in the belly.  How could I forget that one.
