Leonardo DiCaprio is Leonardo DiCaprio in J. EDGAR

Sleepless

He held on. The dolphin and all the rest of its pod turned and swam out to sea, and still he held on. This is it, he thought. Then he remembered that they were air-breathers too. It was going to be all right.

squints

Seriously. First no Howard Hughes with kleenex-box shoes and now this?! C'mon dicaprio.
"The myth by no means finds its adequate objectification in the spoken word. The structure of the scenes and the visible imagery reveal a deeper wisdom than the poet himself is able to put into words and concepts" – Friedrich Nietzsche

lol fer real tho.

Getting tired of Leo.  :(
Falling in love is the greatest joy in life. Followed closely by sneaking into a gated community late at night and firing a gun into the air.

Cross-dressing or GTFO

well it's written by dustin lance black, he's shown to have a majorly close relationship with his mother and what seems to be a gay relationship with the winklevoss twin.

i think it's safe to assume the cross dressing took place at some point. it's like, implied.
under the paving stones.

Alexandro

what i've read is that there's no crossdressing or even gay openness about his relationship with his lover. everything sober and constrained.
I saw the trailer and it looks like a boring mix of nixon without the shakespearean exuberance and the aviator without the love for the silent film era. hope i'm wrong.

It's a Clint Eastwood film. That tells you everything you need to know.

what do you mean?
he does boring biopics? have you seen bird?

when i heard the gay angle was dealt in with only suggestions and a certain repressive vibe i thought it could work within the context of the story.

if someone told me that it was a mixture between nixon and the aviator i think i would be excited about it. but it seems so by the numbers.
eastwood does makes some great movies from time to time.

Sleepless

I mean that his films are (from the ones I've seen at least) never remarkable in any way. You can't fault the fact that they are solidly put together, but they never surpass your expectations. You want a middle-of-the-road, "worthy" drama? Watch a Clint Eastwood film. Someone (possibly on here) described his films as having a "workman" quality, which I think describes them perfectly. He turns up to work everyday, directs the film, and clocks out when his shift is over. He does his job, but there's no passion there, and it shows.

Getting tired of Leo.  :(

Leo is very smart and (almost) always choice great projects to work on, tho. Just look at which directors he have worked with the past ten years, or so...

Inception, Christopher Nolan
Shutter Island, Martin Scorsese
Revolutionary Road, Sam Me... well, nevermind.. you get my point.

He is also playing a pretty controversial role in Django Unchanied, which is exciting and a little unexpected. I think he's great.

what films do you mean?
i would never call something like letters from iwo jima a "middle of the road 'worthy' drama", or unforgiven, bird, mystic river, high plains drifter, black hunter white heart...
uneven experiments like gran torino or million dollar baby are pretty "passionate".
so yeah, i don't know what you're talking about.

Sleepless

I guess it's a matter of taste then.

Oh, I don't disagree that he's smart and has chosen great projects. He's very good at what he does, and I like him. But he's got no range at all. He's got two facial expressions (the one in the poster above, and the wide-eyed intense face).

In fact, you could take the image in the poster above, and write "INCEPTION" on it, or "SHUTTER ISLAND," or "REVOLUTIONARY ROAD," or "THE AVIATOR," and they'd all work as the poster for those films.
