Tom Hanks Says Pixar Moving Ahead With TOY STORY 4
by Todd Brown, June 27, 2011 11:12 AM

Are you ready for more Toy Story? Because according to Tom Hanks the folks at Pixar are already hard at work preparing a new adventure for Woody, Buzz et al.

Currently on an international press tour for Larry Crowne Hanks was on the BBC this morning and was asked bluntly if there would be a Toy Story 4. His answer? "I think there will be, yeah.  Yeah, yeah, they're working on it now.  There you go."

Hanks would be in a position to know, obviously, his services being required early in the process to voice Woody so this is a fairly reliable word on things. The questions, of course, are what stage of the process they're in and whether fans consider this a good thing, Toy Story 3 seeming to have been such a beautiful cap to the franchise. Continue on and you risk getting into a diminishing returns sort of situation though, of course, everybody said the same thing about making both Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 and we've seen how those turned out.

I seriously doubt this. It sounds like he was giving a bored answer to a boring question and just wanted to move on.

If it's true, however, it answers my question:

What? Why? I know they're in a bit of an unnecessary sequel rut right now, but I don't see any reason to start spouting gloom and doom.
He held on. The dolphin and all the rest of its pod turned and swam out to sea, and still he held on. This is it, he thought. Then he remembered that they were air-breathers too. It was going to be all right.

It used to be I would read that story and think, "No way. Pixar's not that stupid."  Then Cars 2 happened.

I'm fine with it. Toy Story is already two sequels in and each has been excellent in their own right. Making Wall E and Up movies do not bring in toy revenues so right now Pixar is doing their own version of "one for the reel, one for the meal" but the good thing is that the only real cash in series so far has been Cars.

There should never be a fourth anything.

When did Pixar sell out their integrity? It happened so gradual I couldn't even tell it was taking place, but it has. I hope it wasn't when we gave them a subforum!

I'll agree with you the moment there is a bad toy story. I do agree this was a perfect place to end the story, but you neva neva know.
