I saw this last year.  It was ... alright.  On the surface, somewhat invigorating and refreshing.  But, upon looking back, once the lights came up, I realized it was just like every other by-the-numbers coming-of-age drama you can think of.  It's been too long -- 8 months -- since I actually saw it, so I'm hard pressed to think of any specifics since then.  The most unique part of the film is the setting.  And in a way, I was reminded of this when I saw Take Me Home Tonight.  Thematically, it has some similar material.

From an intellectual point of view, how would you rate the hotness of Ashley Greene in this movie?  On a scale from 9.9-10.

the cinematography and editing from that clip are pretty bad. It should have been quicker and tighter. It screams student film because they're trying to show off the location while at the same time making sure every piece of dialogue is said so the audience can hear it. If the camera was tighter, and they didn't concern themselves with making sure the audience knows the location, they could focus more on the characters. also, if there was a better use of blocking they could have masked the fact it's all their friends in the background, or quite clearly this was a freebee call for extras as they did not get enough. "I haven't seen it this busy in years"

If i was editing this film i would have zoomed in on some of these images to crop out some of the problem. this was probably shot on the red and you wouldn't lose much quality. I would have also made some of the lines of dialogue trip over each other, even if the delivery wasn't that way on the day. It doesn't feel like a real conversation to me, which believe it or not you can create or at least aid when editing. This is the same problem that Kevin smith had early in his career.

so ya basically in an effort to be clear, the shots/acting/directing/editing plays itself on the side of caution; step 2 in the 3 step program of a film schooler's evolution.

So, socketlevel is in for a 9.986.  Who's next?

Weird... there was a skate park not too far from where I grew up, and it was called Skateland, and it looks just like the one in the trailer. Are they all called Skateland? They used to bring us there for elementary school field trips. It was eventually shut down and turned into an American Furniture Liquidation store.

There's a skateland neat where I live too.

I think skate parks are named like Chinese buffets. There's like 5 words to choose from and you gotta pick 2.
Falling in love is the greatest joy in life. Followed closely by sneaking into a gated community late at night and firing a gun into the air.
