Starring John C. Reilly as Mark Duplass, and Jonah Hill as Humpty Dumpty.  I would consider seeing this.

This is GREAT. The screenplay in general is OK but it has some great moments. The performances are fantastic. I laughed my ass off but its great because they are being real and not trying hard to be funny.

yet another case of the trailer ruining everything. the only part that felt like i wasnt watching a movie id seen before were the last 30 or so minutes... dont get me wrong, it was great, but it never gets as weird or sad as the trailer makes it look... best to go in knowing nothing about this. too bad. i have no idea what Dan in Real Life is about, maybe ill finally give that a go...

winner: John C's goofy mug.

This was not your usual comedy. In fact in some cases I felt like this was the first truly realistic comedy in at least 5 years and it was nice to see Jonah truly transformed into someone new rather than being Judd Apatow's version of Cartman.

This wasn't zany, there were no antics.  And that's a good thing.  This was occasionally funny, but was not necessarily a comedy.  Overall, I really recommend it because even through its questionable exterior, the inside is very warm and honest on a lot of strange levels.  Just see it already, fuck.
"As a matter of fact I only work with the feeling of something magical, something seemingly significant. And to keep it magical I don't want to know the story involved, I just want the hypnotic effect of it somehow seeming significant without knowing why." - Len Lye

I Love a Magician

to my surprise i really didn't dig this. it's all undercooked and i couldn't bring myself to care about anyone or anything that happened. i respect the way this was made, but it didn't add up to a very solid movie.

good things:
john c. and johan h. got a few laughs
john c. has a great face (marisa too! excellent face!)
i liked how a few of the dialogue scenes were edited
