Nice! Kinda feel like I've seen the movie after that trailer, though.

I'm not into movies where they just make up a ridiculous future where people have to die BUT ONE GUY ISN'T DOWN WITH THAT and it's all supposed to be some kinda swipe at our society.

So is Squints' imaginary version of Logan's Run starring Matt Berry.

That's because that's not the actual trailer, it's the clip they showed last week at Comicon which gives more away.

"Everyone can't live forever. Where would we put them?"

that line made me laugh out loud.

Haha yeah that line is stupid but this looks brilliant.

Niccol is like a well adjusted Charlie Kaufman. Best ideas in the biz.

In a world where every movie is about a futuristic dystopia...

Gattaca was awesome, so I'll see this.

Did anyone else think Cate Blanchett was on that third poster?

I think I'll be more specific - I only dislike the movies where the made-up society happily trucks along, accepting death or not falling in love or whatever ridiculous thing, then this extremely handsome guy goes "hey but wait" and that's pretty much the movie.

Reminds me of the movie idea Gervais and Merchant discuss in an Office dvd extra: 'Brain Jail' - set in a future with rubbish laws like 'you can't have your own thoughts':

Which reminds me of Equilibrium.  Where it's illegal to have emotions.  Man, that movie is so bad.

& I agree w/pete - this is a movie we've seen 10 times before, it's paint by numbers at this stage...maybe it will be ok, but I'll be waiting to catch it on tv...at best.

you think i looked brilliant? :yabbse-huh:

even if you meant you think i jumped the shark too, guessing that this looks great based on Andrew Niccol who has a track record of always trying something original and often getting it right is quite different from posting a massive picture of justin timberlake from ten years ago.. as if that's some kind of criticism on the film?

was the social network supposed to be shit cos that dude was in it? really you're just trolling at this point. and everyone else who thinks this looks crap  the only excuse i can think of is you've all had your brains turn to mush from dumbing yourselves down enough to think HAYWIRE is a good idea. i remember when xixax used to get it right. those days are long gone. my god..

since my post succeeded yours, yes I was saying that you too jumped the shark based off of what I saw....did you read any of the previous comments or are you simply honing in on that handsome picture of justin timberlake? I think he's alright! but not when he's suddenly the leading man, in a film that doesn't look that different from 10 others I've seen with a little hype around it...he was just fine in the social network but just because he was in it doesn't mean he's such a sure thing just yet (have you seen Alpha Dog? based off of that alone I wouldn't want to see him carry a movie)....the picture I posted was maybe a little unnecessary but this is a message board....lets not take it so seriously. that's not trolling. and if you guys think it is: that's not my intention. I was just pointing to the past for a giggle, why not? and Andrew Niccol gets it right sometimes! I love him for The Truman Show alone!

tl;dr justin timberlake's ok in my book/I wasn't trolling/I love The Truman Show

It's a trailer guys, they usually make that shit for the minions.

I'll check it out cuz the writer/director's track record is pretty top notch. I see potential to be balls or pretty fun.

this guy is just a jerk..

QuoteEllison says the new film is based on his multiple prize-winning 1965 work, "Repent, Harlequin! Said The Ticktockman" which the complaint calls one of the most famous and widely published science fiction short stories of all time.

this is the first time i've ever come across that title, and it is the worst title i've ever heard. dude needs to shut the hell up.

it appears he has a habit of going crazy for no reason. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlan_Ellison#Controversies)

Ellison is the godfather of trolls.  His primary talent being prolificacy, he's made a very profitable second career out of claiming every idea originated with him.  And he knows that filing a suit a month before the release date means it's more likely the studio will just pay a settlement rather than risk an injunction.  Basically, fuck Harlan Ellison.

He's a source of entertainment for me.  He's written some decent stuff, but he's also crazy and it's always really funny.
Listen to his commentary on some of the 1980s Twilight Zone episodes, he's so fucking proud of himself for creating something so forgettable.

I want to see this film but I just can't get over  the fact Justin Timberlake  is in this film. I know it's petty but I grew up listening to pop music in high school and I hated it. :(
