Might not see the movie.  Might not even need to see the movie having seen the trailer.  I think that's a great trailer.

QuoteVin Diesel and Paul Walker reteam for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed—Fast & Furious. Heading back to the streets where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert in the new high-octane action-thriller. When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what's possible behind the wheel.

This was definitely a lot better than I expected. It goes back to the first one being entertaining and fun and pretty much pointless. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were born for those roles. They should just keep doing these movies and nothing else.

My god -- I went and saw Adventureland tonight (fucking awesome. my favorite of the year) and you should have seen the dickhead audience that was watching this movie. I've never seen a larger collection of assholes. It was like every jerk had a chip on his shoulder. And they were sharp because they'd cut me whenever they would shoulder slam me on the way to the bathroom.

The worst part was going to see it with my friend who drives a brand new 2009 BMW 3-Series 335i xDrive. Every jerk on the road out of the theater wanted to race us on the way home. Revving their engines while we're waving, "No thanks!" like Tobey Maguire in the beginning of Fear and Loathing when Hunter's offering him some pot in the car with the top down driving through the desert.

Leave it to a shitty movie about cars racing to get the assholes to the theater.

'Fast & Furious' accelerates to $72.5M opening

LOS ANGELES - "Fast & Furious" has left its competition in the dust with a $72.5 million opening weekend.

That is the best opening weekend so far this year, topping last weekend's $59.3 million debut for "Monsters vs. Aliens."

"Fast & Furious" also has raced to a record for April debuts, easily passing the previous best of $42.2 million set by " Anger Management " in 2003.

The fourth installment of " The Fast and the Furious " street-racing franchise brings back the four stars of the 2001 original — Vin Diesel , Paul Walker , Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster .

The reunion has paid off for distributor Universal, which also has pulled in $30.1 million in 32 other countries where "Fast & Furious" is playing.

The fifth one was confirmed before this came out. Apparently it will be set in Europe.

By the way I doubt the european version will happen next. It was said that almost half the audience this weekend was hispanics. This reflects similar numbers to the original one as well as the sequel in Miami. Hispanics did not relate at all with the Tokyo version so they skipped it, and it was a flop.

They will definitely stick with what it works, and maybe go somewhere else in latin america. Europe is also strong market for car fanatics, but considering 80% of the cast for this one was also dominican or mexican, I think it will continue to go that way.

Tokyo flopped because it had no stars and almost zero promotion when it was released. With the way the studio avvoided promoting Tokyo Drift I felt like the film was almost a straight to DVD release. This one is succeeding because I couldn't get away from the promotion. It was fucking everywhere. It also has all the original stars back in it.

I don't think the comparison between Tokyo Drift and this film will determine where they set the next one. I say considering stars of the film are already talking about how studio bosses want Europe for the next one, I'm betting money I'll be right over you.

I don't think anyone legitimately gives a shit where the next one is set.

It was just fun to crack jokes at this shitty movies expense.

Le Fast Le Furious. lulz.

That's kinda funny but not that great. I remember this old one from the first one was pretty good.

Agreed.

The opening scene is ridiculously entertaining.  It's the extended version of the original trailer.

The story can't hold my attention as well as classic 70s car chase films, but Lin definitely delivers the chases.

Best movie EVER if only because Michelle Rodriguez dies! Other than that, it's filled with such cliched lines of dialogue that you can answer before they are spit out, some admirable action/driving scenes that probably went on a little longer than should have, and a rehashed plot of the first one. Oh, and did I mention Michelle Rodriguez dies?  :bravo:
