I've been hearing a lot about this movie. I really like Terry Zwigoff's "Ghost World" but I haven't seen this one. Apparently it was a really famous and controversial documentary when it was first released. So, what the 411?

It's good. Really. :( Probably my second favorite documentary ever.

Crumb kicks ass...I didn't know much about his comics until seeing this.  It's cool though, it follows him from haight ashbury to his perverted mishaps with women...

Strange sorta loner dude...but a very cool movie.  His brother cracks me up too.

Definately check it out.

agreed.  and his brothers really do crack you up.  and it's also my second favorite documentary, 'american movie' being the first.

what's supposed to be controversial about it though?  i saw it and thought Crumb and his family were a bunch of freaks.  weren't all of Seymour's records in Ghost World loaned from Crumb?

So, Either Gimme Shelter or Hearts of Darkness is your favorite Documentary, whichever one is, the other one is your third favorite?  Because your second favorite is Crumb.

I think Crumb is my third or fourth favorite.

he was around during the "underground comic" explosion during the 60's...really, nothing is really too extreme for today, but at the time a lot of people felt he had really poor taste.  He was a self-proclaimed pervert...had a taste for plump women...he loved curves, and often exaggerated a women's form within his work...it was really just sorta somewhat orginal at the time so some made a stink about it, claiming it bordered pornagraphy.

I am ammusing it's this one?  I snagged a copy awhile back of it for like $20 at some used bookstore.  But if there is another one out there....do spill the beans...

EDIT....or even assuming too....

I would love to see this movie, but I can't find a cheap place to get it. It's not available for rent and all the buying prices are really high for a movie I've never seen.

I heard zwigoff would threaten to shoot himself in the head everytime crumb refuses to collaborate.  it was something kinda extreme like pointing a pistol at himself or something.
