at first i hadn't seen Corruption or In the Cold of the Night but then later i did so i ordered them

So interested to hear what you make of these. I'm unclear if you've already seen them or not?

I panicked and placed too many Vinegar Syndrome orders, then saw the shoutbox links and just got annihilated by Kino, too. Took jenkins' rec of Mauvais Sang and also nabbed Straight to Hell, which I can thank Reelist for reminding me of.

If July's Criterion sale still happens at this point it's just going to be Come and See.

jenkins

no i haven't seen them as in watched them but i mean i complimented that one line in the screencap from In the Cold of the Night and Corruption is titled Corruption so it's as promising as anything else on Vinegar Syndrome. it's a deliberately outrageous distributor and that's the healthy mindset to maintain when watching their movies. oh, they know

i bought these at kino and i'm showing them off like a fashion demo or whatever else that is too much but worth it from the inside

i had only seen Mauvais Sang in the theater and had it on a flashdrive

jenkins

i spent, you know, something like the cost of two annual streaming services to buy movies because sales took place. well when this is all over and i have to pick some excellent streaming service at least i'll have backup. currently i think hulu will be my only free trial during the plague. in december though, that's usually when i do a free trial. so i'll go again. i never watched Devs as i've mentioned

Reel

Since garage sales aren't allowed, everyone's just been leaving their shit out by the street. So, today I picked up the first 7 seasons of 'Curb'... from the curb. Also, 'Howl's Moving Castle' and a 4 disc 'Gone With the Wind' still shrinkwrapped  :yabbse-thumbup:

Film Movement sale. so now i ordered two of those (after being choosy)

wilder

oh hell naw

The one I want is selling for 'fuck you' money and DVD is dead I think we can agree.

There was a whole line of these Joe Sarno releases planned, I wonder what happened to them

Quote from: blu-ray.com o April 6, 2016ABOUT THE FILM MEDIA PROJECT

The Film Media Project is dedicated to preserving, restoring and raising awareness of obscure and outstanding examples of independent cinema shot on motion picture film.

Conceived and initiated in 2016, the Film Media Project is the brainchild of company director Michael Raso who has dedicated his life to working with film. A professional cinematographer, editor and producer, Michael understands all aspects of film media from production through media management and distribution. Michael personally oversees the restoration and transfer to high definition of all films in the Film Media Project archive.

ABOUT THE JOSEPH W. SARNO FILM LIBRARY

The Joseph W. Sarno Film Library – the Film Media Archive currently includes the largest collection of films by erotic auteur Joseph W. Sarno. Restoration of the library to high definition media is scheduled to begin Spring of 2016, and will be managed by Michael Raso with assistance from Joe's widow, Peggy Sarno.

About Joseph W. Sarno (d. 2010) – an American film director and screenwriter, Joe Sarno emerged from the New York sexploitation film scene of the 1950s and 1960s and wrote / directed approximately 75 feature films including the internationally renowned Sin in the Suburbs and Inga. Often referred to as "the Ingmar Bergman of 42nd street", the last 12 years of Joe's life heralded a new appreciation for his body of nuanced and highly stylized erotic dramas, culminating in a series of screenings and awards at the Lake Placid Film Festival, the British Film Institute, the Turin Film Festival and the Warhol Museum among others. It was during this time that Joe Sarno and Michael Raso forged the close working relationship that would result in the location, purchase, and restoration of many of his existing films, and the production of Joe's final feature film in 2004.

Quote from: blu-ray.com on October 13, 2017NEWLY RESTORED IN 2K from original 35mm film elements, the films will be available in a two-disc Blu-ray (or DVD) collections featuring a new liner notes essay by film critic Tim Lucas, and a robust assortment of extras.

Film Media has also confirmed that restoration is under way on the films that will make up Volumes 4-11 of the series:

Sarno 04 - Sin in the Suburbs / Confessions of a Young American Housewife

Sarno 05 - Moonlighting Wives / Naked Fog

Sarno 06 - Abigail Lesley is Back in Town / Laura's Toys

Sarno 07 - Daddy Darling / The Indelicate Balance

Sarno 08- Inga / Seduction of Inga

Sarno 09 - Odd Triangle / Desire Under the Palms

Sarno 10 - Swedish Wildcats / Siv and Anne and Sven

Sarno 11 - Butterflies / Bibi

Edit - I found it. Last one. I'm a religious man, now.

you ordered the last Blu-ray? Great find

I know you know about Arturo ripstein. I probably didn't need fassbinder in a leopard print suit with a tangerine dream related soundtrack and yet of course I did

wilder

I found it on Amazon Canada for the equivalent of MSRP, even with shipping. All the rest are going for nearly a Benjamin Franklin.

I've seen the two you got. Kamikaze is an obviously insane movie, madness only Fassbinder could pull off. Time to Die is far more formally impressive but not in the stuffy sense. I'm sure you've seen the trailer, but for everyone else's benefit:

Clearly some great decisions are being made, these past few days. We'd fail Finance but ace Art History.

I think it's cool when reliving your 20s returns you to a time period that's still from before you were born. I was born nostalgic. Sometimes I say that. I just did.
