I haven't listened to the commentary yet, but the little featurettes are nothing memorable; they add up to about 25 minutes total. The deleted scenes have some good stuff (especially Quaid's character trying to look younger by dyeing his hair, but the color leaks down his face), but Weitz was correct in deleting them.

Pubrick, is Gattaca as good as I remember it being?

No one else post the damned Life Aquatic DVD pic.  We can just assume that most are going to buy it.

yeah, if not better. i just like all niccol's scripts, even S1M0NE had its merits. i'd rank this as one of the top 10 stories of the 90s. i also like the novelty of his titles, how there's always sum gimmick that jokes about the core of the movie (truman, the elite in s1m0ne, and the use of the nucleotide bases in gattaca).

yep, it still holds up.

i like the first part, but i found the ending sappy. especially "i never saved anything for the swim back." i think it would've been so much better if it had turned out Vincent killed the guy from the beginning. you never suspect it even though there's no proof he didn't until Josef confesses(?). plus, if you only find out towards the end after Vincent suddenly beats that detective to a pulp, you've sympathized with a murderer, but it's understandable and tragic and it helps the arguement against designer babies and obsolete people (us) a lot more.

Two Lane Blacktop

Got The Life Aquatic here, as well.  Also The Company Of Wolves, thanks to Ariel/03's tip that it was on DVD.

Has anyone got the Treasures from American Film Archive reissue?

I ordered mine with a couple other titles and haven't received them yet....looked on the Amazon page and it says the American Film box ships in "1 to 2 months"

What the fuck?

Is there any thread devoted to this? Am I missing someonething?

someone throw me a link or an answer, because I was/am really goddamned looking forward to that.

Plus my other titles, which I could watching by now.
Maybe every day is Saturday morning.

Happy Together

and

Mannen på taket (Man on the roof)

Shot in 1976 but only now released in a 2 disc edition, this is perhaps the best thriller to come out of Sweden ever. Highly recommend this if you ever get a chance to see it.
EDIT: I'm have to clarify. This is not a perfect film. It's a bit dated and so is most pf the performances...except Carl-Gustaf Lindstedt who some of the incredible acting...he's one of the biggest reasons I rank it as high as I do.

yeah i saw that.  i'm really upset.  the unrated is one minute longer than the uncut edition.  plus there are bonus features on the unrated.  plus the unrated is oop, so i'm happy with my choice.
