Jump Cut? im Confused.

So... the cut on his head was from jumping? I'm more confused now.

What about the tracking shot through Calvino's in Road to Perdition?  The shot in which the big fella pats Michael down is the same shot as the tracking one, as evidenced in a deleted scene.  They cut quite a big chunk out of it, although it doesn't seem to be a jump cut.

Anyone know if that counts as a jump cut or not?

No, it doesn't count. There have been plenty of examples throughout this thread. A jump cut is an abrupt cut in time. The same action is taking place or it's from the same position -- only you're cutting time. It doesn't look right and calls attention to itself.

What was being described was merely a cut-away.
