i remember, and resently watched again, this excellent forgotten film where this computer becomes conscious after having champagne spilled on it, and feels real love when a single tear falls on it in slow-mo..

My biggest guilty pleasure film. Want so bad on DVD. I have the cool 80's/Jeff Lynne soundtrack.

Speaking of 80's soundtracks, I have a good question for everyone: To Live And Die In L.A. -- does the Wang Chung score make... or ruin... the movie?

Discuss.
Those who say that the totalitarian state of the Soviet Union was not "real" Marxism also cannot admit that one simple feature of Marxism makes totalitarianism necessary:  the rejection of civil society. Since civil society is the sphere of private activity, its abolition and replacement by political society means that nothing private remains. That is already the essence of totalitarianism; and the moralistic practice of the trendy Left, which regards everything as political and sometimes reveals its hostility to free speech, does nothing to contradict this implication.

When those who hated capital and consumption (and Jews) in the 20th century murdered some hundred million people, and the poster children for the struggle against international capitalism and America are now fanatical Islamic terrorists, this puts recent enthusiasts in an awkward position. Most of them are too dense and shameless to appreciate it, and far too many are taken in by the moralistic and paternalistic rhetoric of the Left.

Haha!  That was the first soundtrack I ever bought... I was pretty young and VERY into this movie... especially the duel the computer has with the cellist.

I still have the tape.

i was always so impressed (and still am to to this day) with the F/X shot of the side of the spaceship liquifying and morphing into a step ladder.
There are shadows in life, baby.

Holy shit!!!! "Flight of the Navigator"! Man, it's been so long since I've seen or even thought about this movie. I used to love it! Man, I'm gonna go rent it tomorrow!!!!

Damn, is this Xixax Nostalgia Week?  What's with all the 80's threads (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

I've actually been thinking about Flight of the Navigator this week.  With a young Sara Jessica Parker and Paul Ruebens as the voice of Max, the spaceship.  Awesome!

Compliance! This was one of those movies I watched repeatedly, along with The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking and Ewoks: Return to Endor.

god that picture brought back so many memories. i feel like any second now i'll go back to my childhood home in 1988 and i'll have grown up but my family will still be young (yes, i know, it was the opposite way in flight of the navigator, but deal with it).
