Great ballz of lightning! Szn 3 just finished so let binging and rewatch commence.

Let's get into this show before Act III properly takes its course. A contrapuntal anti-procedural that's been offbeat enough to be censored by its network, indulging in meta-soap mischief. Works well in Better Call Saul'z hiatus.

If The Good Wife is Breaking Bad then The Good Fight is defo Better Call Saul.

I know it's not likely many on the board have this service, but the show iz really worth seeking out.
Bipartisan stalemate played at a Buñuel tempo on the latest premiere. Could serve as a good entry point to the series' tone if you're curious.

There was a debate about the reasons why cinema nowadays seem to be scared of contemporary life; well—cinema/not cinema—The Good Fight isn't, and is more often relevant than irrelevant.

Fuck. Halfway through the premiere and the Kings are unhinged. Thank God for CBS Whatever It's Called showing what real freedom is when nobody is watching. And great timing on this one with the Democratic party supporting a sexual harasser for president.

"I will be there to hide them from the black helicopters, if that's what you want." That show is WONDER-FUL.

Yes, fresh air as far as one-hour series go. I mean it's as severe as any drama, even when it plays as a jester's grinning farce.

A pendulum goes back and forth.

“Justice equals the law times the zeitgeist. The law on its own doesn't stand up. You need the mood of the times on your side" Not a perfect equation, but I love where szn 3's P-Anon arc + Reddick scandal has left Diane. As Stringer Bell would have put it to Marissa, There's games beyond the fucking game.

May 2nd edit:
Anyone that misses BCS or West Wing should watch this, seriously. Even HBO doesn't really thematically try for the social analysis through genre that TGF manages.

The Good Fight continues its streak of inspired comedy -- I honestly don't know whether it sits closer to "dark comedy" or "satire" but it's too goofy to be the former. What's for sure iz that the parallel plots of this season -- Mandy Patinkin running a casero-court, homemade justice, out of a copy warehouse, and a first-year associate being pouched by inmates -- provide ample space for considering the "structure" of justice.

Bureaucracy is all over the procedural dramas, court and cop and even now the sardonic business-billionaire showz. What The Good Fight synthesizes feels very modern in its form of playfulness. Its characters are themselves contending with disillusionment of infrastructure and so suddenly the authority of a judge iz quite clearly a mythmaking exercise of paperwork and verdict. Both of these are biased, but only the statutes and elongated stagnation of the former truly corrodes the benefit of a citizenry. Because the latter, the Good Fight insists, iz just the human nature of 'due' process.

This show is worth your time. It'll be an unsung totem of an American era. No joke! The thing iz that it gets at Liberal Fantasy in a much more clearminded way than Aaron Sorkin. It still unfortunately has the sheen of a democrats-dream, but the writing team gradually distorts this to be more about Bureacratic nightmares.

Like Beau is Afraid's opening sequence, the city of The Good Fight warps from being a Chicago we recognize into a emblem of the decay of modern life, and doesn't mystify it, but argues back at it in repulsion. This happens alongside the reality of its production -- what started as a show about Trump Era law and social rhetoric became a show about global paranoia and insurrection cells.

It's dope. It's fun, well written, every lead character will struggle and writhe as you root for them in vain, and it's mature. The kind of show people say they want all the time.
