That three star one is mixed, but looked at their reviews and they haven't given any PTA movie more than 4 stars. And lol would Not call the other one mixed, they said they wanted to give it 5 stars but needed another viewing, and also said Inherent Vice is their favorite PTA.

It doesn't spell well for its Awards chances though, which some people here were hoping for. It'd have to win over people who aren't really fans. And Inherent Vice comparisons won't do the trick.

What if wrongright is right and everything's gone wrong? On the other hand, what if wrongright is wrong and it's all right? If wrongright is right, what do we have left? If wrongright is wrong, what will he write?

Your obsession with PTA not winning an Oscar for this movie is one of the funniest obsessions I can think of. You hate PTA? Cool. Spend the next 6 months tracking down every tweet and maybe you can get to watch... Kenneth Branagh win an Oscar instead? Congrats!

I'm not being negative. Just trying to give the full picture. The only rapturous responses are from big fans of PTA. Which is fine, but also a sign to me about its overall reception. A lot of people snap at me, but I think my predictions for this are more likely to pan out. We'll see.

Another lukewarm reaction added on Letterboxd.

It's fine if you're being cautious and trying to get the full picture but I just feel like people here aren't gonna want to hear or care about every three star review on letterboxd. If you're gonna constantly talk about those at least give us an indication that you actually WANT the movie to succeed.

I do want it to. I just don't think it will and have had that feeling from early on. I wasn't quite believing that "Oscar winning, return to Boogie Nights" hype. All signs for me have pointed to this being a minor entry in his oeuvre. These reactions so far have made me think that even more. Of course plenty of people are going to love it, I hope I do too, but I'm being practical.

I should know better and just ignore you but I'm curious, awards guru. If this is too "minor", then what's winning the Oscars? Since you boast about having your finger on the pulse of the awards race, what is winning? The mediocre Kenneth Brangh coming of age film, the mediocrely reviewed Will Smith Williams sisters biopic, a Jane Campion film that isn't her best?

My guess is probably Don't Look Up, which is topical, has all of Hollywood's biggest stars, and has already had rapturous responses from test screenings.

You call those films "mediocre" but they sound much more up the Academy's alley to me than this does. And I just checked and King Richard's reviews look quite good to me so far.
