Title: the king
Post by: pete on June 16, 2006, 08:06:07 PM
trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/thinkfilm/theking/trailer/)
from IMDB:
A troubled man, recently discharged from the Navy, goes to Corpus Christi, Texas, in search of the father he's never met.

directed by James Marsh.  Starring Gael Garcia-Bernal and William Hurt.

I just came out of this.  this was one dark movie.  very fascinating, a bit unpredictable.  very well-acted.  it's a movie that is really disturbing, but also at the same time it plants the audience so firmly in the main character's head that you can glare over the disturbing details as the hero searches for a sweet moment.  we all need a little bit of cathargic dark films from time to time.  anyone else has seen this yet?

I enjoyed this a lot. Really takes it's time and invites you into it's world. Pretty dark and chilling stuff. Great cinematography. The entire cast was amazing. Reminded me of Straight Time with Dustin Hoffman, portraying men who attempt but can never fully realize happy civilian living. Definitely recommended.
