It's been touched at elsewhere, but I found a book with new stuff.

That link discusses how the Shining is really about the slaughter of Native Americans.
The Wolf at the Door (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0820471151/ref=pd_bxgy_text_1/103-8270294-6518262?v=glance&s=books&n=507846&st=*)
This book talks about how the Shining is about the Holocaust. I haven't read it, but I find that notion very interesting. Has anyone read it or anything similar?
Could The Shining just be about genocide in general?
the native american theory is interesting but i suspect we'll never know if there's any truth to it.
