What are some of the films that you know were terrible, but you still lovw them and watch them anyway?
- Killer Klowns From Outer Space
- Mortal Kombat
Charles Bronson movies like Kinjite, Death Wish 3 and The Mechanic, along with the Richard Gere version of Breathless, The Fan with Robert DeNiro and Ishtar.

Steven Segal movies, especially the early ones. I've seen them all and even noticed a trend......supporting characters in Harrison Ford's vehicle film The Fugitive came from Steven Segal movies and worst, played almost exactly the same type of character. Alone, in Under Seige, you have four. The conspiracy doesn't end there and is bigger than what one would imagine. All I'm trying to imagine is why the fuck I care. But I'll go on watching Segal movies and The Fugitive looking for more supporting characters. I'm sure they all are there somewhere in the background.
Oh my gosh, Bloodsport! YES! That's one of mine as well.
I can't decide if Billy Madison is a good movie or a bad movie... because I love it so much. But if it is a bad movie, then I guess that counts (but I think I might just love it because it actually is a good movie). I love it so much that my judgment is a bit hazy on its quality.
There are movies like Lost and Delirious that have really lame moments, but they're done with such earnestness that I get sucked in and so Lost and Delirious is one of my favorites, even though I can tell that there are times that it's just super mushy lame stuff.
That's all I can think of for now.
That's a tough question... a lot of my favorite films are considered "bad" by some people. Two of my favorite directors are Larry Cohen and Dario Argento; Argento gets a little more respect than Cohen, but plenty of folks would consider both of them to be bad directors.
That said, the movies I like even though *I* consider 'em bad: The Fast And The Furious (the new one), Tombs Of The Blind Dead; Death Bed: The Bed That Eats; Can't Stop The Music; Logan's Run; Death Race 2000; Rock 'N' Roll High School.

Am I the only one who cracks up at seeing LOTR mentioned on the cases of Jackson's old movies? :-D My copy of
Meet The Feebles has it as well... I'd love to be a fly on the wall if there were ever a person who bought one of these movies because they liked LOTR, and they sat down to watch it....

I'll add these to my list as well..
Roadhouse
American Ninja 2
People Under the Stairs
Creepshow
Red Dawn
Short Circuit
I'm amazed ono didn't get assholier in the thread, but it's too late now to redirect it.

One of these things is not like the other. Cruel Intentions is by no means a bad movie.
And it's my bad, Mac. I've been
engorged engaged in The Office so I haven't been paying attention.
Quote from: wantautopia?Cruel Intentions is by no means a bad movie.
Neither is Adventures In Babysitting.
Neither is Ernest Scared Stupid (or any other Ernest film for that matter).
yeah i dont consider them bad either, but compared to some of the other films that i love (but for a wholly different reason) they ain't nothin special. i love them in a way i will never love other movies.
just because they dont fit the snob criteria doesnt make them bad.

..it doesn't make them bad either..

Per a previous post, there's an overlap in casting in Under Siege and The Fugitive because they were both directed by Andrew Davis.
I forgot about Sylvester Stallone's body of work -- Over The Top, Cobra, Lockup, Nighthawks, Victory, Tango and Cash, Rhinestone and Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. He sings the title song for Paradise Alley, his directorial debut.
Quote from: soixantePer a previous post, there's an overlap in casting in Under Siege and The Fugitive because they were both directed by Andrew Davis.
I should have known that, but gracias.
And also, all movies in this thread that were defended as good movies I would argue as being very bad. For Cruel Intentions, Stanley Kauffmann put it best when he observed that it was better back in the days when high school students were allowed to take over the city government for a day, instead of remaking French novels. The result of Cruel Intentions is pure guilty pleasure because nothing in the film strikes any chord of authenticity. That being said, I enjoyed the film for its bad taste.

And anything with Rob Schneider in it.
Hackers
Empire Records
Army of Darkness
The Big Hit
I don't think these are awful movies by any means (except for the Big Hit) but definitely not up for any Academy noms.
Cheesy 80's musicals like Can't Stop the Music and Xanadu are worthy of inclusion in one's viewing schedule.
It is funny that some respectable movies I liked, such as Remains of the Day, I've only seen once, but I've seen Days of Thunder, Return of the Jedi and Cannonball Run multiple times, even though they suck. One could surmise that bad movies sometimes offer more entertainment value than high-quality costume dramas.
Staying Alive, directed by Sylverster Stallone, is awful -- and I've seen it more than once. When this film was a hit, Paramount considered teaming Stallone and Travolta to do Godfather III.
Quote from: themodernage02just because they dont fit the snob criteria doesnt make them bad.
yeah, the movies i'm talking about don't fit what you would consider the snob criteria either. i really think it's funny that some think that this so called snob criteria is what i live by, too.
10 Things I Hate About You.
Clay Pigeons.

True, but B movies have a special bad taste to them and I couldn't think of any other thread to say this.
The Stepfather (http://www.esplatter.com/reviewsotos/stepfather.htm) - I love this movie.
Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/death_bed_the_bed_that_eats/) - This one is great, as well. It's just so damn weird, and yet it's played completely straight. It's like you're watching some freaky 70's nightmare. I'm a huge fan of 70's horror anyway, but this is one of the best, IMO.. and it's by a first-time director who never did anything else.

Playing God

...and Cruel Intentions is a great film. The sequels, however, are bollocks.
The Boys Next Door - a minor gem of '80s teen cinema with Maxwell Caulfield (whatever happened to him?) and Emilio Estevez as a couple of thuggish high school students who, after graduation, go on a killing spree whilst on a road trip to Los Angeles. A guilty pleasure, to be sure.

As far as bad movies go, Roger Corman has produced quite a few terrible-but-great titles:
Death Race 2000, Bucket of Blood, Tales of Terror, The Masque of the Red Death, Women in Cages, Big Doll House, Big Bird Cage, the list goes on...
I'm a big fan of Grisham adaptations. I can't help it. I hate Schumacher on principle, but I've seen The Client and A Time to Kill multiple times. I love The Rainmaker too, but that actually borders on being a good movie.
And who can forget the classics of Jan De Bont? Twister, Speed, and Speed 2 are terrible guilty pleasures.
Quote from: Film Studentthe classics of Jan De Bont.
those words will appear in a textbook one day.
Con Air by Simon West in not a mesterpiece, but still i see it once in a while, cause I just can't seem to get enough of Nicholas Cage as the patriot Cameron Poe, John Malkowich as a the bad Cyrus The Virus and Wing Rhames as a bad ass Black Panther member.
I know there is a lot of other well-known actors in the movie too!
But one thing is to overrule all these great actors performance, and that is the lovely song "How Do I Live" performed by the lovely Trisha Yearwood, yeah combined this is a Irresistible movie.

Blind bought "Clay Pigeons" for 9.99 recently and loved Vince Vaughn's performance in that. The boat scene where the body washes up while they're fishing is priceless.
