Title: Who's seen "Mondo Cane"?
Post by: foray on May 31, 2004, 04:02:51 AM
This is a 1960s shockumentary and watching it now one realises how un-PC and Eurocentric it is, but because of that, it is HILARIOUS. I heard that it's one of the worst movies ever made. Anyone seen this, and what didja think??

I watched Mondo Cane today.  The tone of the film can be downright condescending at times, and a lot of stuff is shown for shock value...but its fascinating to watch.  The subject matter ranges from whimsical (old ladies using outdated exercise equipment) to brutal (bulls being slaughtered).  This film is all about beautifully shot and often disturbing images juxtaposed together in interesting ways.
