I recently imported HARD EIGHT from the USA on DVD. (FINALLY)
Australia are behind on movies made before 1999 on DVD :(
And ALOT of people on the Aus DVD newsgroups talk about PTA and how they want to import HARD EIGHT - which is cool
Anyway... I've been watching it alot... checking out scenes etc
And have you noticed that Jimmy (Sam Jackson) NEVER has his own ciggies? Every scene he always scabs one of someone. I wonder if that was intentional or PTA just wrote it like without thinking... anyway... its cool cause when you watch it again - every scene you wait for him to ask for a ciggie and when he does you laugh. hehe
Thats my observation for the day =)
"Don't smoke in here, it fucks up the resale value like crazy!!" haha classic!
im sure this was either paul or sams idea.
that was actually my idea
yeah but I planted the thought in your mind
that's only about 47% true

keep in mind that theres a 47% error margin to everything this guy says
has anyone noticed how little smoking there is in Magnolia?
mostly the Donnie stuff with thurston moore
I noticed this because the script calls for TJ Mackey to smoke a pretty fair amount but he doesn't in the film. and I cant think of anyone that does.
I know melora walters won't even pretend to smoke. And DAMN right!! I hate cigarettes. If I was an actor there's no way I could do it either.

I agree with you, but I have to admit that the smoking in Hard 8 was not objectionable at all.
In fact I thought it was very artfully done.
Plus it has my favorite phrase when John says: "spontaneous friction"
That IS a cute doggy dog.
I don't understand why this topic requirs a forum, unless one would care to discuss about the differences in PTA's charcters that smoke, and don't smoke in relation to smoking, what it symbolizes, etc.. (or something a long those lines)...

Some of us don't have much of a life.
And are still in shock at the demise of the old board.
Sorry...
