I loved the whole thing when she's threatening Barry talking about Lena, "Well, if your not going to come to the party then I'll just invite her, right?" That scene is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I don't remember exactly what she says but I remember that scene being one of my favorites in the movie.
Also, Phil Hoffman, that fucking talented genius is going to be on my favorite show tonight: Conan O Brien, just so you know. You guys just know that's going to be funny. I'm definitely staying up to see that, I can't wait for the comedy central re-run.

If you want to see something funny, get the "Mr. Show" season 1 and 2 DVD set and watch the sketch where Bob Odenkirk is ordering donuts and Mary Lynn Rajskub is the frustrated girl behind the counter. Mary Lynn can convey so much disdain with just her expressive face.
Oh yeah, here's my picks at the moment
Actors: 1) Philip Seymour Hoffman 2) John C. Reilly 3) Steve Buscemi 4) Sam Rockwell 5) Steve Zahn
Actresses: 1)Thora Birch 2) Christina Ricci 3) Samantha Morton 4) Natasha Lyonne 5) Parker Posey
subject to change at any time- I also like Emily Watson, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Erika Christensen, Zooey Deschanel, Janeane Garofalo. I did like Brittany Murphy until she did "8 Mile" with Eminem and then "Just Married".

Oh, I hate the movies Brittany Murphy is in too, I still think she's fucking great though. It's hard to explain, I just think she could be so great with a good filmmaker. I'd definitely put her in some of my films.
Yeah, I became a fan of Mr. Show awhile ago after blind buying the DVD. It's great stuff man. Can't wait for the next season to come out.

*69 was really great, he and Barry Pepper had some nice moments. And a so-so film that had lots of fun moments with Jane is "Thursday", a sort of rip off Tarantino flick on a small scale.
Quote from: ebeaman69Thomas Jane is a great fucking actor. It sucks that he hasn't done anything cool since Nights. He would be one of my favorite actors today if he had.
Wait for "Dreamcatcher". It'll be the one that makes him a star.
And I agree about Amanda Bynes. There's a severe lack in good, young, female comic actors, and I think she could fill the void.
I've been around a while, so I have my "old school" favorites and current favorites...
In the 70's, there was De Niro, Pacino, Hoffman, Nicholson, Streep, Fonda, all in their prime.
Right now, there is the best influx of acting talent since the 70's.
My favorite actress right now is Julianne Moore, although Rene Zellweger, Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson kick ass too.
Actors -- it's a toss-up between Phil Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, Edward Norton, Billy Crudup, and Robert Downey, Jr. I suppose if I had to choose just one, it would be Downey, barely edging out Hoffman and Norton.
Someday, Phil Seymour Hoffman will get his Oscar. I can't believe he's never been nominated.
Back to Downey -- I was thinking back over his career the past 10 years -- Short Cuts, Natural Born Killers, Two Girls and a Guy, Black and White, Wonder Boys. What a brilliant actor.

Seriously doubt it, while I want to see it, that's one film that will disapear into oblivion.

Don Cheadle (Devil in a Blue Dress, Out of Sight, Boogie Nights)
Dustin Hoffman (Wag the Dog, Lenny, Mignight Cowboy)
Edward Norton (American History X, Primal Fear, Fight Club)
Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, Man Who Wasn't There, Primary Colors)
Actresses and some favorite performances:

I usually don't care much for list threads but done hate them as much as P, but this thread takes the cake of just bad "list" threads. I can give praise to actors and all, but I wouldn't know where to begin on ranking them in any top 5 list at all. And really if I did, it'd be for actresses only and on scale of who was hottest.

Well I'm not sure if it's the worst list thread.
I'll rank my top fives by using this criteria: If I was writing and directing my own movie, these are the 10 people who I would absolutely want to star in it.
MEN
Denzel Washington
Morgan Freeman
Philip Seymour Hoffman
William H. Macy
Bruce Greenwood
WOMEN
Julianne Moore
Renee Zellweger
Ming-Na
Frances McDormand
Alfre Woodard
They maybe aren't the 10 best. Or even my 10 favorite. ... Just 10 great actors who I would love to write for and work with and see together on the big screen. Anyone wanna see this film?

Bill Murray
Nicolas Cage
Jack Nicholson
Owen Wilson
Angelica Houston

It's just current man, not ALL TIME. I can't do that stuff either. I was just having people list some actors they've been into LATELY, actors they've discovered recently or whatever. It was just for people like me that have changing and evolving favorites. There are people (like you maybe) that are pretty set in their favorites and would hate this thread and that's fine, just ignore it. There's no need to post just to badmouth it, that doesn't do anything, especially so long after I posted it, this thread is really old. Anyways, Meatball said it best - this is not something to think hard about or have you do hours of narrowing down, it's just whoever's in heavy rotation, you know? Like, my favorites that I posted here awhile ago have changed a little now. I still love those actors a lot but there's other stuff I'm into, I'll come back to them later like I always do. Same thing with filmmaker's - I'll come back to PTA when he gets started on his next movie but right now I'm into Tim Burton with Big Fish.

De Niro Voted Greatest Living Movie Star
Two giants of 1970s cinema, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, have topped a British magazine's poll of the greatest living movie stars over the age of 50.
The two stars of the "Godfather" saga took the top two places in a poll, released Thursday, of 10,000 readers of British film magazine Empire.
Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman and Marlon Brando who died in July before voting was complete took third, fourth and fifth spots.
Anthony Hopkins, in sixth place, was the highest placed British actor, and "Alien" heroine Sigourney Weaver, in 10th place, the top-rated woman.
Ten Britons appear in the Top 30, including Sean Connery, the original screen James Bond, in 13th place, "The Lord of the Rings'" Ian McKellan at 15 and Alan Rickman at 19.
The Top 30:

best movie of NEVER (so far)
I like how Kal's actress list doesn't consist of the ones he thinks are the best, but the ones he thinks are the hottest.
That's pretty cool.
Oh that's how we play. Okay:
1. Bethany McLean (the hot/ass-kicking journalist from Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room)

You know me soo well :)
Its true. Some great actresses in some roles suck in other roles. But most hot actresses are hot in most roles... consistency!

Well, when you put it that way, I gotta agree.
i'm going back to specific, recent to semi-recent performances instead of actors in general

i had long given up trying to guess what your avatars were about. in the future, you HAVE to share this kinda stuff! black guy almost ruins the illusion with his one line.. your guy tho: wow. amazing, nuanced, layered performance. he's like a living, breathing field of dreams. brilliant culmination with how he says "chief
ff" with so much emotion that he is in awe of even saying his name.
it's on par with the final line of Band of Brothers.

it's like he momentarily forgets what weapon he used.

i know! and at the same time he tries to hide something out of military-guy respect. you can sense the true awesomeness of what this guy did. if someone saved mankind from annihilation, that's how people would talk about them.
I played Halo 3 at a friends house for the first time last night but ended up getting really, really sick and having to go home to take care of business. I just bought a new 4Runner (only had 97 miles on it) and I needed to use the bathroom so bad, I was thinking "I can shit myself right here if I have to. I can trade the car in at half price" that's how bad it was. Luckily, I made it home. But I only got to play Halo 3 for like 10 minutes.
I farted once on the set of Blue Lagoon.
