It was made in the 1920's, and can easily be labeld as the first 'music video', although it's intention was not. the film documents the everyday hustle and bustle of the soviet union. it paints the soviet union to be an industrial machine that was driven by the people. Vertov was a very complex cat, and before classical cinema he saw the the movie camera's purpose to portrayl truth from life instead of fiction. he was a hardcore believer in 'objective cinema', and always tried to steer clear of a narrative. this truly is a beautiful film because it experiments very much with evoking a mood through images and music. viva vertov!

the new one with the cool score made in the 70s made the movie infinitely better.  the score was pretty catchy too.  but you know, it's made like classical style, according to some vertov notes or something.  anyways, that made the film really good.  this was one of the only films I enjoyed that I had to write about in school.

I'm seeing this on the big screen in a few weeks.  I'll post my thoughts when I do.
