Title: Movies on TV not shown in 2:35?

Why are all movies on TV reformatted for "your screen" when they ca just show them letter boxed, they show some of them that way on payed cahnnels?

Because there are probably more people who like fullscreen movies more than seeing "THE BLACK BARS ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN!!!ARRGGHHHH*CORONARY*"
