Post by: pookiethecat on January 04, 2004, 01:06:26 AM
anyone else read this awesome encyclopedic work?  thomson is one of the best critics around.  his opinions are astute, exciting, and reveal an interesting and compassionate taste.  my favorite entries are those on kubrick, madonna, steven spielberg, pta, and madeleine stowe.

The Madonna one is right-on and also pretty funny.

At the very least, Thomson's book is a really valuable, informative resource, and his opinions are interesting, well-informed, and well-written, regardless of whether or not you actually agree with them.
