If you go to other message boards, you'll see that there is no need for a thread like this, but XIXAX is a special message board, with special members. most new members take time to adjust to the Redirect System. but usually in a very short time, they understand that it is logical and convenient. and when done correctly gives u a warm fuzzy feeling inside. in recent memory only urself and Chest Rockwell hav had a problem with it, the latter because i'm not sure he read the threads he was referred to.

Rather than quoting it, I'll just refer to it. Your first post in this thread makes sense, and I agree, but there is a little overreacting in it, don't you think? I mean, think about what will happen with PTA"s next film. If we don't redirect or have "official" threads we'd get flooded in the Idle Chatter Board, the PTA board, the Everythign Else Cinema board, Now Playing board...this is predominantly a movie message board who, for the most part, loves certain directors. Why make a grip load of threads about the same topic when we can just put them all in one?
I used to get pissed when I was redirected, sure. Now I appreciate it so I can quick jump to the discussion rather than no one post in it because they're posting in the other one.
It all works out, trust me.

The funny thing is, as I hear more and more about what happened in the last few weeks, I begin to understand how the system works...are the doppleganger rumors true? Hard to know really. But I always post under the same name on the boards that I post at regularly, and only post as "neatahwanta" here. And I back up what I post w/out pussing out. No little brother getting at my 'puter guff, no 2nd and 3rd names, no hidden sections....that you know of anyway. The old allies continue to hold, the new alliances slowly grow in the background, reguardless of whether you lock threads or lock entire sections. Its best to get these things over w/ w/ one big bang...its more memorable at least. Or perhaps straight forward. Whatever you like.

Redirection is great on a lot of levels. If you get redirected (which I have been, many times), it's a little humiliating, but it teaches you to do a SEARCH next time before starting a new topic. Plus, the whole organization thing can't be understated, either.
On an semi-related note, I think we need a FAQ so that people can read a little about how and why we do things the way we do, and if there's a beef with that, then too bad.

I don't understand what's so hard about putting all Fiona news, info, etc. in one thread. I don't see anyone complaining about the need for more Official Radiohead threads. Everyone knows it's there and posts all their related stuff there. mutinyco posts all his updates to his site in his own official thread. Members add their own info and opinions to threads devoted to a particular movie or director without starting new topics for each new news related item or thought.
