some of these are pretty off if you ask me.

TOPICS TO TALK ABOUT
Pornography and casual sex.
Drugs.
The 1970's and why people wore the clothing they did.
is that a sense or humor or are they serious?

I think they're pretty accurate if you ask me, and not nearly as bad as capalert's judgmental tone. Magnolia is a "dirty" film, in that it does have a lot of profanity, violence, and objectionable material. But, Pauline Kael has said that the best, most real films are like this. They're R-rated, they're "dirty," they're true-to-life.
topics to talk about: moderate?
Yeah, I remember reading that a long time ago. But you have to remember that these are for concerned parents and that's it.
This is hilarious!
That is the most pointless and stupid website I have ever seen
You could say all that stuff about the Bible.
Oh wait... I thought it was one of those Christian sites, but it's not. Nevermind. Carry on.
Now, this is bullshit!

Why? It's all true. Screenit.com gives a matter-of-fact account of what's in a film. It's not judgmental.
"MELORA WALTERS plays their daughter, a young woman who continuously snorts cocaine, sleeps with guys she just met, and uses strong profanity."
"JOHN C. REILLY plays a beat cop who hopes to romance Claudia."
This is why the site is bullshit. I have no problem with websites telling parents if a movie has bad languange, objectionable material, etc. But here, in the site's "Role Model" section, it has nothing but bad things to say for the characters. Sure, Claudia is a coke-addict who swears a lot and sleeps around, but Jim Kurring shouldnt just be 'the cop who tries to romance the coke-fried slut'. They should mention what a good person he is, that he's trying to help her, that he always tries to do the right thing, that he wants to do good in the world and not judge people. Jim Kurring is a role model of the best kind, but all this site is interested in is what hes doing wrong. "Nothings ever good enough for people like you"
ok, instead of bullshit, lets put hilarious.
no tense music? mild tense scenes?
This I find particularly funny Jump scenes: mild (probably meaning when she jumps on the crowd.)
oh and this:"those offended by the term, "G-damn," should note that one use of it occurs here."

True point there.

Quite right. They also don't say that she's a lost woman, abused by her father, with no light to follow...the more I think about it, this site makes me sick.
fuck angry parents
lol
That website makes me want to hurl... its probably run by some extreme right-wing republicans....
Nick
That was really great...I might read some more...I wonder what it says about Malcom X...

Screenit.com is pretty good, actually. :(
This is worse:

some of the user comments on that site are absolutely fucking hilarious
Holy goddamn shit. That site is indescribable.
i cant wait for those sites to review my films. would they review a movie if i sent one to them, even if it was a low-budget direct to dvd type thing, for example?
I think it's worth a try, if not for the laugh.
Sigh. They can say what they want to say.
Y'know they do applaud artistic merit to movies. They aren't all bible-thumping censors. Check out this review (http://christiananswers.net/spotlight/movies/2002/punchdrunklove.html) from a well-known movie around here. He understood the movie much more than the general public did.

Even when they like it, they don't like it. That's how God wants it, apparently.

Somebody should do a Concerned Parents review of xixax. Have a big role model list of all the mods...
hey, markums, what the fuck are you trying to suggest you cocksucker?

Well... I see your point. But, at the same time, critics really grasp onto what they can identify with. This usually yields positive results and, coincidentally, a positve movie review.
I guess the critic didn't identify with the profanity. Some people are sheltered away from things like that in regions of the country. But, going back to what you said, yeah, I wish she could see that profanity is as normal in life as violent outbursts are.

Sorry, I couldn't read what you said, I was so distracted by those obscenities you quoted
Ya'll are all missing the point! You shouldn't get upset about the parental review! Those are just for the parents. Click on artistic review (what they thought of a movie on a scale of 1 to 10). 7 out of 10????!!!!! Way, way too harsh. How about, 10 out of 10!!!!

I don't understand. What's this concept of 'not getting upset' that you speak of?
