Does anyone know of any productions or persons who do shoots in the Detroit area? I'm wanting to get onto sets and get film (movie) experience.

I have camera experience in television (video) production as well as other jobs in the field.

I'm willing to work for free if the need be. I just want to get onto some sets.

Have you also tried indieclub.com and tried networking with local crew there?
