Here is a list of all the Acad.  nominated best films from 1990-2002. In your opinion  what/which  film deserved it.(winner in caps)

1994 was a DAMN good year for movies.  Four of five up there are deserving.  Pulp Fiction has become one of the best films of the nineties, and The Shawshank Redemption has become a classic since its release on home video.  My pick, though: Pulp Fiction.

I haven't seen Secrets and Lies or Shine (haha, I typed "Shit" as a typo before typing Shine - maybe that's telling me something?), but have heard good things about them.  Right now, it'd have to be Fargo, though that's not saying much.

Magnolia was done a horrible injustice here.  The Cider House Rules SUCKED, The Green Mile was amazing, if a little plodding.  The Insider was good on first watch, but really nothing of note ultimately.  I agree with American Beauty's win, but thought Magnolia was the best picture of the year.  And no Fight Club nomination, of course, either.  Idiots.

1990- goodfellas, do doubt. the june 8th (is that the right date?) sequence deserves the oscar alone.
1991- jfk- oliver at his prime. pure cinematic gold.
1992- umm.. don't know/care
1993- yea i would agree w/ schindler's long list dere, but the fugitive is good stuff too.
1994- forrest gump forrest gump forrest gump, no question.
1995- dis year, anymovie BUT braveheart. i dug sense and sexuality, and apollo thirteen is dope. the postman is good too- ahh i can't make up my mind.
1996-  fargo is as good as it gets, but jerry cruise is classic. and shine too! (homer and bart r trying to get on the shuttle for famous ppl to get outa springfield, and the flight attendant/guard dude is like "ur not famous!" to homer, and homer goes "i'm the piano genius from shine!" and the guard is like "oh yeah, what's ur name?" and homer goes "shiny mcshine." heheheh.)
1997- l.a. confidential and as good as it gets are also as good as it gets.
1998- thin red line, terrence knows his shit. shakespeare was kinda sweet, and i say that in the most heterosexual way possible.
1999- *sigh.* if only our movie won that best originaly screenplay category. still bitter
2000 was good. no winner really. like them all.  
2001- ok, im torn here. u see, lotr is too good to be true, but so is gosford park. so i luv them both and lets just leave them at that.
2003- yea, the pianist. its sad b/c its true. chicago was fun but it wasn't that fun. 2 towers has gollum in it so its already a landmark. gangs- *sigh.* it hits twice as hard as it misses, but it does miss sumtimes, but when it hits boy it fucking hits, and its still better than 90% of the crap we watch anyhow. what's the other? the hours, oh yea, w/ the 4 fucked up muff divers. its good, but ©cbrad's prize of gold goes to the pianist. play on.

That was a hard one for me but here is how I came to my decision:

  Three films come to mind-The Godfather Part III-Casino-Goodfellas-
I liked Casino more than Goodfellas-they are both great-i mean REALLY great films but Goodfellas seems like a pre-curser to Casino-Casino seems/is more epic like which I always tend to enjoy more(analogy=watching Goodfellas is like riding one ride at an amusement park(fun but i need/want more)Casino on the other hand is like having an all day pass! (may see like a stupid analogy but it's an easy way to describe it )Now, lets get to TGP.III  -I feel that this film is UNDER-rated  and this term of course is used alot  but  I reallt think that It applies very well to The Godfather Part III(TGPIII)   And when you compare all factors that make a film good IYO(story, acting ,directing,score,production design, cinematography, ETC,ETC,)  TGPIII ex-sells Goodfellas in every way IMO
I have always thought TGPIII has gotten bad rap.   I don't think it is as good as  previous two (but not many a film ever made is as good as part I and part II)       ....i think if you watch them both, compare them a bit TGPIII  is a better film IMO (not taking anything from Goodfellas though it is a great film)

i see ur point,. as long as u agreed Goodfellas was great. TGPIII was very poorly made tho, i hav to say, there were sum great scenes but there were also sum incredibly awkward and inconsistent ones. not to mention many absurd one-liners which were supposedly wise phrases. i'm startin to think casino is better than Goofellas too.
