no wait
yeah
rt
I am going to go with "You Can't Always Get What You Want" from The Big Chill, although this movie is worse than anything on your poll, I really liked the use of this song in it.
no colors anymore I want them to turn black
I voted for 'Casino' though I have a soft spot for 'I Am Waiting' in 'Rushmore. '2000 Man' was perfect for the chase in 'Bottle Rocket'. '19th Nervous Breakdown' was also great in 'Anger Management' (the last flick I heard they're music in). I don't remember what scene 'Wild Horses' was in, in 'Adaptation'.

Neither do I, but imdb lists it as being on the soundtrack. :(

It is a scene in a car...I think it is with LaRoche and Susan...I think.
apocalypse now (that part rocks) :drinking:
nothing will ever be as badass as robert deniros entrance to jumpin jack flash in mean streets.
also: cant you hear me knockin is in the opening of Blow when they are working in the weed fields.

this particular song u speak of is used even betta in casino in a super badass montage. check it out yo.
btw the best use of
any song in any scorsese movie is sunshine of my luv in goodfellas, w/ the shot of deniro. classic good stuff.

can i get a smile, pretty please? :(
Well, I'd say Gimme Shelter, but I suppose I shouldn't take such an obvious route.
I'll go with Royal Tennenbaums. I always hoped to use Ruby Tuesday in a movie, and they beat me to it. But when I heard it come on the soundtrack I knew for sure that I loved the movie to death.
i vote "Satisfaction" for its reoccurring role in MELVIN AND HOWARD. i wish Mary Steanbergin (sp?) would have tap danced on tour with the Rolling Stones.
i actually voted "Ruby Teusday" from The Royal Tenenbaums because this is how i first discovered the Rolling Stones. or maybe it was "Can't you hear me knocking " from Blow. or maybe it was "paint it black" from the kevin bacon movie that ripped off the Sixth Sense. well, which ever movie came out first in that case.
I went with FMJ because the use of The Rolling Stones in Goodfellas is good but it's shadowed by the fact that the use of Layla is a lot better.
I can't give such credit to any director other than Scorsese for this. Among all I think Goodfellas will always be the number one film for the usage of the Rolling Stones....There's something about his Camera Movement and Pacing in that film that just fits too perfectly with the soundtrack. ...As much of a competition Wes Anderson & Coppola give I think Scorsese will always have the best touch with Rolling Stones usage.

 Big Chill....? Bad movie....?
Well, I'm glad someone at least saw it. It's one of my favorite movies.
I also thought The Tennenbaums use of Ruby Tuesday was fucking cool. I voted Full Metal Jacket.
Quote from: punchdrunk23Well, I'm glad someone at least saw it.
it's one of the most popular films of the 80s.
Yes it is, but nary a word of it has been spoken of it on this board. :-D
because it is derivative. in an objectionable way.
Derivative. Right. Still pissed over our argument a few days ago?
Slinging words like derivative at me only makes you look like a fool, my friend.
I would love to know why you think The Big Chill is derivative. Despite the fact that all art is derivative. I just thought I'd fling that artsy fartsy shit back at you.
yo moms is derivative.
Shit. And here I thought we were going to have a fascinating, thought-provoking conversation...but alas, it's degenerated to 'yo mom' jokes. Typical.
Your mom IS derivative, technically.
As are you and I. But he didn't explain himself. Kinda dissappointed.
I'm sorry, but you all have missed the best movie that makes use of Stones' music. The correct answer is Coming Home. Full versions of Out Of Time, Jumpin' Jack Flash, and Sympathy For The Devil.
But Mean Streets, Goodfellas, and Casino tie for a very close second.
Fuck. :(
I forgot to add an "Other" option. :(
I suck at making polls. :(
Also, the Jerry Seinfeld doc "Comedian" made good use of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking".
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" is probably my favorite song ever. :(
There was a good cover of "Dead Flowers" at the end of "The Big Lebowski" too. :(
What about "Miss Amanda Jones" in "Some Kind Of Wonderful"? :(
Also, "Jumpin' Jack Flash (live version)" in "Night Shift"? :(
Can you turn the music down?
I can turn it down, I can turn it up. I can switch it from the front speakers to the back. I can make it reverberate. --
Yes, but can you turn it DOWN?
Don't you frown at me. Cheer up! :(
Quote from: ShanghaiOrangeDon't you frown at me. Cheer up! :(
I can't. I just found out I'm derivative. :(
non yabbse smileys make sphinx sad
:yabbse-sad:
I think Ruby Tuesday in Royal Tenenbaums really just makes the scene complete. I can't argue with most of the other suggestions though.
i think that The Big Chill gets shit on a little bit cause its dig in High Fidelity.
Quote from: themodernage02i think that The Big Chill gets shit on a little bit cause its dig in High Fidelity.
I would agree. I started watching the film (Big Chill) on TV once and I watched only the first 20 mins (had to leave) and I enjoyed it. I still doubt it is as good as most of the films on the poll though, that is what I meant with my earlier comment.
i love the big chill
The airfield rescue at the end of High Risk (1981), set to "Satisfaction".
Nah, just kidding. Any and all of the Scorseses will do nicely of course, though at this moment I'm voting for "I Am Waiting" in Rushmore, if only because it's a Stones tune that doesn't get played to death on FM radio, and it perfectly fit Wes' montage.
what about the song Moonlight Mile in that movie with Jake Gyllenhall, (i cant remember what its called).
Bubble Boy
I voted Goodfellas. Great uses of Gimmie Shelter and Monkey Man.....
