does anyone here know what PTA will be doing next? I know there are suggestive titles on the pta site but has he said anything about what he wants to do next?
no clues, but usually he's hard at work either writing the script or scouting locations by the time the dvd for his previous film comes out on dvd
x5
I think the next PTA flick will debut at Cannes in May of 2009. We will probably all wait, excited, for the next 6 years.

I think its been time enough since PDL for PTA to at least give a one sentence explanation of what he wants to do next and who he is writing for or whatever. Thats all I ask for.

Yeah I know. I know people here will give me shit like "let him do it at his pace" or "he just did this" but Id really like him to come out quick with everything, I mean compared to what he has done PDL was pretty light, and he should be anxious to make a new movie... well at least I think, even if PDL just came out, its been years since he wrote it, Id like to at least know hes doing something besides hearing him say "Im just living in the moment".... but I guess its easier to make demands when you arent the one who has to live up to them
there's someone other than ms. apple who might delay x5 a bit
The first and last bit of news I hard from pta.com was that he'd lined up Michael Penn for the music.
March 21 - March 27, 2003
A site reader met Michael Penn at the South by Southwest Festival & asked him what PTA is up to. Michael said that Paul is working on a new project & that he is in talks with him about doing the music!
thats all very imformative, i'd really like some info. i still would like him to do science fiction or even better american pie 3?
shit man there goes paul big chance. i'll propably see it anyway.
I thought Paul was doing "Resident Evil 2." :yabbse-wink:
Had to put the wink in there 'cause I know some people will think I'm serious.

nooo you really shouldnt have, it would be great fun to see him do action or something like that. maybe he could take over the rush hour series.
emotions; bah.
explotions; :yabbse-thumbup:

yeah but couldnt that have otherwise been assumed?
He'll announce when he's ready folks. Personally, I think the suspense is tasty! :-D
I heard he's going to do a movie about a bunch of filmgeeks that hang out on message boards talkin' shit.
I'd see it
Especially if it includes the Donnie Darko/Homosexual thread. sphinx already outlined it for him.
I think I should play me
i bet pta would be the only one who would like the turtle part, what with him being all into frogs 'n stuff.
FYI. regarding a possible collaboration with Michael Penn. It's highly unlikely. The last time we spoke (when he gave me the info on the dvd), he said he has no plans to stop working with Jon Brion. I think they're officially an item at this point....
Quote from: mogwaiBut falling turtles wouldn't look really that good, eh?
Not to mention they'd be much more painful.
i hope its his "musical". and i hope he casts fiona apple.
I just received confirmation. He is adapting "A Brief History of Time"
PTA's next film should be about a girl who works at Burger King who falls in love with a guy who works at McDonalds.
I'd love for him to do a period piece...I'm curious as to how he'll do the dialogue.

I sure hope so. Jon Brion is a musical genius. I prefer him over Penn any day. The 'PDL' soundtrack in particular is one hell of a thing.

It's already been done. (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0103882) (Sort of. ;))
This whole thing is really up in the air, isn't it? I sort of think Boogie Nights and Magnolia as a pair, stylistically and thematically, but Punch-Drunk Love is completely different, and really leaves no sign as to where PTA might go next... But I'm absolutely there for whatever it is.
not me. if it isnt either BOOGIE NIGHTS II, MAGNOLIA II or RUSH HOUR III.... i am NOT SEEING IT.
dude, sequels are where its at.

i would hate for him to do a period piece.

I love the Romeo and Juliet undertone, but this idea would never work simply because it's too implausible. There's the fact that a woman would never fall in love with a fast food employee (unless of course she's overweight), and the fact that BK and McDonalds employees are huge rivals. Just too implausible.

The genius that he is, I think he could pull it off.. I don't see the period piece happening, though.

Check out that Macbeth remake, involving rival fast food joints.
Scotland PA it's called....
I think it's impossible to think of what the movie will be...but more interesting who he will be working with...
lately it's all about the pairing of crazy people...first sandler and pta
now sandler and tom cruise in collateral....
next...pta and sylvester stallone...
seriously, someone needs to pull off something for sly...like robert forrester and etc. who tarantio brought back.
i could see pta work with naomi watts, or george clooney..
