I'm here to report that Nobody does not disappoint. Bob Odenkirk puts Liam Neeson to shame. It's not even his physicality. It's his presence.
The movie is a little too gleeful about violence, but you know what you're singing up for.
I was pretty cold on this overall but delighted at Christopher Lloyd's few scenes.
I mostly loved his scenes, but...
The childish grin he had at the end of the climactic massacre creeped me out quite intensely in a way I don't think was intended. Like his bloodthirst had finally been sated and he couldn't wait for more. I think Odenkirk pulled that off way better — he took joy in being in danger and outsmarting his foes. Whereas Lloyd's character seems to just have a specific appetite for death.
Yeah my longtime love for Lloyd definitely blinds me to the inherent creepiness of the context of the whole thing, which really stood out to me in the rest of the film.
